This motherboard with OCZ 2 x 1gb 3200 Platinum. Running at standard settings , 2T.

Anyone else run this combo ?

I'm having trouble getting my system 100% stable. Have tried a new CPU (was 3500 now a FX-60) and even RMA'd the motherboard and got a different one.

On 1.6 Bios currently.

System is memtest stable, but fails Prime blend test, the one that uses a lot of RAM. PC just appears to shutdown, monitor goes off, yet fans still spinning.

Games do appear to be stable however.

Any other people with the same kit running OK, or indeed have similar problems.

Right, i've narrowed my problem down to the CAS speed. I can run this RAM at CAS 2.5 OK, but not 2. Its rated at 2 though.

Given that i've swapped the motherboard as well as the CPU, am I to assume that the RAM is faulty, given that nobody else seems to be having any problems running CAS 2 RAM at CAS 2 speeds ?

memory compatibility mode?

I couldnt for love nor money get my board to run 1t initially, I knew my cpu mem controller was capable of over 280mhz at 1t and my cheap value ram which im using for this media pc is good for 220mhz 2.5cas 1t. after lots of bios messing I simply switched the ram over to the black slots and it passes memtest and stability tests error free.

Its called "flexibilty option" and when it was on my memory ran at 130mhz, when it was off it didn't help me.

I'm still getting stability issues with my setup Stolly. 3200+ with ocz plat rev2 2x512.

I have everything manually set to default speeds, ram at 200mhz 2-2-2-5 and i think 2t. Memtest was alright after a couple of passes but Prime95 failed after 2hrs. All the kit was totally stable in my old msi board :s This memory does seem to have a lot of compatibility issues, in the old msi it would error at anything over 200mhz...

Time to bay it I think (and very tempted to go 805D)

Thats where my rev2 went, it never seemed happy with any cpu I paired it upto. Just big up the TCCD chips and you will get enough from them to buy a cheap intel dual core, thats if you want a current intel dual. I'm gonna hold out on intel for a while, until the conroe cpu hits the market. I'm expecting big things from Intel in 6+ months time :D

lol i've got some of that memory as well, and its also unstable in this board.

Are we the old poor old buggers on earth with this memory on this board ? I can't believe that we are the only people on OCUK who have this combo, other people must be OK with it surely.....

Hi guys. Got a random problem with my setup, if anyone has had a similar problem and solved it I would appreciate there wisdom :)

Pretty much from day one when I built this dual sata2 system I seemed to have cold boot issues (5 out of 6 times it wouldn’t boot from cold, reboots no problem though). At 1st I thought the board was simply not detecting the components but I later realised the system was going all the way and loading up windows but I simply had no output to my monitor (I could simply switch the pc off via the keyboard)
I though it must be a gfx problem, I pulled out my 6600gt pci-e and put a well old rage pci gfx card in to test and everytime I booted from cold I got a signal to my monitor with this old card.
Later I put my pci-e gfx back in and had a mess about in the bios, after a while I found out it would only output a signal from the gfx card from a cold boot when the memory was running 2t, switching back to 1t would not work unless I put my old rage pci gfx card back in.

Basically all the component bar the mb have been tested prior to this insulation....
psu - used for over a year with no probs
gfx - used for a month and no probs
memory - also used for a month running no probs at 1t 225fsb
146 cpu - used for 5 months running at 3ghz
mb –new, with 1.60 bios from factory

1t on this system is 100% memtest and prime stable but when I use my pci-e card it will not cold boot, unless I put another gfx card in.

Cheers

Interestingly, mine was running perfectly with an AGP card. The I fitted a PCI-E card, and now I have a cold boot problem. Doesn't matter too much, it runs 24/7 except when I want to clean out dust or something, but I do find that curious.

is this generally a good mobo or is it too buggy .. not wanting to overclock .. just put x2 3800 and radion 9600pro in it ...

cheers lads

As far as I know and have read, the problems people get occur when there is overclocking going on. I think its stable enough to run at stock, from my own experience, and after getting thos board I feel paying over £100 for a good Intel motherboard (so I can try out that intel D 805 that seems to be overclocking well) seems just outrageous.

hum, that does seem more than a coincidence, I'm kind of thinkin anythin other than a pci-e gfx card will not suffer from the dreaded cold boot issue, be it agp or old pci. well thats in my case and maybe yours to.

pci-e + 1t = cold boot issues
agp or pci + 1t = no cold boot issues

this relationship just doesnt make any sense to me!! but it seems to be the way my system plays.

Tuvoc, what bios do you run, also are you runnin 1t?

like you I wont be needin to turn it off that much, but its nice to know if I need to turn it off I can actually turn it back on again :)

I'm using 2T with BIOS 1.7

The cold boot issue - I can turn it on and it powers up, but it says it can't find the boot disk, in which case I just hit re-set and all is fine. Could be coincidence, but it never did this with the AGP card installed, only the PCI-E

Hi,

Silly question. I know the LDT or what u call it is set at 5 ? I have to lower it so the HTT doesnt break 1000 dont i?

Cant find this option in BIOS, using 1.9 and ram is 1T cant see problems atm :)

It's called something different on this board. Go to the chipset options and it's the CPU NB Link speed. The options are also different to other boards but they means the same thing.

1000mhz = 5x
800mhz = 4x
600mhz = 3x
etc
