**The ASrock 939dual-SATA2 (ULi M1695) thread**

Well I can now confirm Im running at 1T with no problems at all. I also have never had any cold boot problems, Im using a Aopen Geforce 6800GT Agp card.

Help with getting SATA II port to work.

Hi,

Ive just bought 2 Western Digital WD2500KS Caviar SE 250GB 7200RPM SATA2/300 16MB Cache Drives. Both work on the Sata (150) port ok with the jumper set, but I cant seem to get the SATA II port to see them in the BIOS. They are also not picked up in windows. How do other people have the bios set to pick up SATA II drives? Any help greatly appreciated. Running BIOS 1.90 BTW. Spec as sig except for the hard drives.

Cheers

I'm using 2T with BIOS 1.7

The cold boot issue - I can turn it on and it powers up, but it says it can't find the boot disk, in which case I just hit re-set and all is fine. Could be coincidence, but it never did this with the AGP card installed, only the PCI-E

I'm having cold boot issue using bios 1.6 and ram set @ 1T with system in sig but reset sorts it out.

Guess I'll update as well, becuase at the moment I'm only at 1.70
Although so far I've been using the DOS update, may switch to the wndows one

well all ok here............but did cack myself because after using the windows bios flash software 1.80 and shut down i just got nothing
i forgot that i had to turn the pc off and reset the cmos, then it started up fine then went into bios sorted the settings out phew............
all ok so far will see if the cold boot problem is still there after some more testing
Cheers

Ninja :)

EDIT: well after testing for a few days running @ 2.7 and no cold boot issues at all :D

Hi,

Can anyone help with this problem please!?

I have 2 Western Digital Caviar SE 2500KS SATA II drives which is only picked up by the BIOS on the SATA II port very rarely, but it is picked up by the SATA I ports just fine! Is there a problem with the port on the board (Asrock Dual SATAII) or is a problem with the drives (It is the same problem with both drives.) Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

have you enabled sata II in the bios?

Yeah I have, Ive tried all the different settings, i.e. SATA Mode: IDE/SATA and the sata II driving mode: Normal/strong. any suggestions?

ok so have you disabled the sata I / sata II mode should be set to ide mode,
also when windows has loaded can you see both drives? isn't there only 1 sata II connector on the board?

just confirm what you are trying to do

AM2 add-in board

There's a review of the AM2 add-in board over at OCWorkbench, here.

The board will work in:
- K8Upgrade-1689,
- K8Upgrade-VM800,
- K8Upgrade-NF3,
- 939Dual-SATA2,
- K8SLI-eSATA2,
- 939SLI-eSATA2,
- 939SLI32-eSATA2

Performance looks pretty good considering its an add-in board. Overclocking is limited though, due to the max vcore of 1.4v on the AM2 cpu :(. Got to 2.4GHz on stock volts (from 2.0GHz).

Hi Ninja,

I cant see both drives in windows. just the one connected to the SATA port. I cant see the drive on the SATA II port. I havnt tried to disable SATA I and only have the SATA II port active. Is that what you meant? I could give that a go.
