**The ASrock 939dual-SATA2 (ULi M1695) thread**

Just upgraded the bios from beta 2 to official 1.9 as there is no lock on it.

Bios now correctly reports overclock at bootup which is nice. :)

1T still not stable though.

It is slightly more stable as sometimes pasting a pic to paint didn't cause a reboot, before it always did.

Not to worry though, not overly bothered about the 1T issue. :)

There's a review of the AM2 add-in board over at OCWorkbench, here.

The board will work in:
- K8Upgrade-1689,
- K8Upgrade-VM800,
- K8Upgrade-NF3,
- 939Dual-SATA2,
- K8SLI-eSATA2,
- 939SLI-eSATA2,
- 939SLI32-eSATA2

Performance looks pretty good considering its an add-in board. Overclocking is limited though, due to the max vcore of 1.4v on the AM2 cpu :(. Got to 2.4GHz on stock volts (from 2.0GHz).

I suspect it's going to be far easier to just buy an AM2 board, the add-in card is a totally unelegant solution, you can't use a decent cooler on it, it's far too wide and you can only use 2 sticks of DDR2 by the looks of it.

Yes I think for the majority of users it will be a waste if time.

The board only cost £45, and I'm quite happy to throw it out come upgrade time, or give it to a family member

What id like is an am2 board with the same chipset as the 939dual so I can use my current agp and skip s939 and start out on AM2. Why every new board has to have sli/xfire i dont know. It just makes the new boards cost stupid ammounts and not really needed.

anyone experianced error messages saying that SATA hotswap drive has been unplugged. been getting it a fair bit of late. Iv checked the cables and its in fine. maybe time to replace the cable.

Hi Ninja,

I cant see both drives in windows. just the one connected to the SATA port. I cant see the drive on the SATA II port. I havnt tried to disable SATA I and only have the SATA II port active. Is that what you meant? I could give that a go.

sorry been slow responding
Any luck yet?
i would just connect both drives to the Sata I as there are 2 channels,
i think you can use sataII drives on sataI connections just remember to enable and disable what you are gonna use in the bios.

Hi Ninja,

I got fed up of trying to get it to work with those drives, so I have just decided to put them in RAID 1 using the 2xSATA ports. The strange thing is that I had a spare SATA drive (not SATAII) which seemed to work fine on it. Weird eh! Oh well cant complain now as got the raid set up and working well.

Cheers for your help

It happened to me yesterday just after I set up RAID 1 on my 2 drives, all seems ok with mine. Not sure why it said it though.

Have you set the ram to high voltage? does the system hang when starting bios post?

Ninja

What CPU ?
Is it the 3200+ @ 10x ? or 11x ?

And your sig should say Dual as in 2 and not Duel as in fight.

I get no signal on my screen, doesnt post i dont think, then the next thing i see its set everything to defult with a message saying my system failed to start several times so its reset to defult.

I did try setting ram voltage to high but the same thing happens?

3200 + venice with a x10 multi and i diddnt make my sig :)

So your trying to run 10 x 250 = 2500.
Have you raised the CPU voltage or even tried a lower overclock first ?

I can only go up to 1.45v i think for cpu voltage, i set it to that and still doesnt post at 250x10.

I tried 220x10 and that boots, and i had it for a week now with no crash.

What is flexability option? Thats always been disabled for me.

Just bought this board off someone, currently at bios revision 1.50. Looking to overclock this as much as poss - what is the best bios revision to go for? I assume the latest one (1.90) but just thought I'd check in case anyone has run into any problems with it and would recommend an earlier revision.

hi all, I'm gonna be installing a sata2 samsung spinpoint harddrive tonight as my primary drive. from what I can gather there may be issues with it being recognised. I'm eager to get it up and running so if I put it on a sata port can I swap it over to sata2 later without losing any data on it. is there any benefit to sata2 in real terms?

edit. forgot to say tia

Doesnt really help you but I can get my 3200 to 2.6 no probs.

CHIPSET VOLTAGE
CPU - NB Link Speed - 800
NB - SB Link Speed - 800

Reduce these to 600 or 3x

Also drop memory to 133 as well.

1.8 gets me 290 HTT
Havent tried 1.9 yet. Usually let everyone else have the problems first. :D
