Hi,

Can anyone help with this problem please!?

I have 2 Western Digital Caviar SE 2500KS SATA II drives which is only picked up by the BIOS on the SATA II port very rarely, but it is picked up by the SATA I ports just fine! Is there a problem with the port on the board (Asrock Dual SATAII) or is a problem with the drives (It is the same problem with both drives.) Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Just built a PC for someone with this motherboard and had same problem with SATAII drive. BIOS was picking it up ok, but when installing Windows it come back saying no harddrive found. Managed to get it working by setting SATAII to enabled from auto, SATAII mode to IDE and SATAII driving to strong.

That's because SATA mode requires a driver from floppy using the F6 method, IDE mode doesn't.

had the same bother with mine ,drivers from asrock on floppy ready , and f6 when starting install

I received one of these boards from OcUK just the other day.....been a nightmare to get it to recognise everything.

Interestingly the Drivers disk supplied with the board, is bootable and has a nice routine on it to produce the SATA Floppy for you. :D

The board as supplied has BIOS 1.6 on it, should I update to 1.9 ?

yes you should

1.9 Bios installed without drama from Windows. :D

I'm running CPU-z at the moment, and notice that the cpu core voltage is fluctuating between 1.00v - 1.40v and at the same time the cpu multiplier is fluctuating between 5 - 11. HTT is at 200Mhz.

Task Manager shows CPU Usage maxing out at 70%, but averaging about 45%. One of my DVD Drives is running (installing WoW), and I only have this browser window open.

Is this Cool'n'Quiet in operation, or is my psu struggling for some reason ?

Looks like cool n quiet, though on mine cool and quiet only reduces the voltage to 1.3V. Try disabling cool n quiet from the bios and see if it stops.

Thanks Lee,
Just tried that and the voltage and HTT go stable 1.40v / 200Mhz. The simplest checks are the best, why didn't I think to do that though. :o

Really nice to see Cool'n'Quiet working away like that. :D

Cool n Quiet on Bios 1.90 lowers voltage to 1.1v and multi to 5x, only problem for me is that when Cool nQuiet kicks in 1.1v isnt stable at 305x5 LOL so i have to leave it dissabled

Hi,

Just built a new pc for someone with that asrock dual sata 2, venice 3000 and nvidia 6800 XT graphics card.

I have installed windows and the latest mobo drivers from asrock site but when I try to install the nvidia drivers the system hangs and will not fully install them.

Any ideas?

Is there a setting in the bios (1.60) that i should be using ?

Any help with this would be appreciated. Is there compatibility problems with this mobo and NV gfx cards?

Thanks for all the help I'm confused on this one.

You need to enable the AGP P2P Deep FIFO option in the bios (set it to enabled, not auto). I can't remember which section it's under offhand, probably the one containing the other options for AGP (such as fastwrites, etc).

i can't go over 290htt. hit a wall i guess. only ocwbeta2 bios allowed me to do 292htt. but lots of cold boot issues with that bios, not worth the extra 2mhz on the htt.

wonder if there is a way for me to go higher
