There is a set of jumpers just above the front audio header on the motherboard. if both jumpers are on you can use both at same time as i gather that both off would mean anything connected to front ports would overide the rear ports. I havent tested , but may be worth looking at

Ah cheers will check that out, nice one :)

Edit: removed the jumpers and works as I expected, using the front panel shuts down the rear, thanks a lot :)

I was getting some cold boot issues (code in the bottom right was 0075 i think) where the board would stop POSTing just before the ide/sata details popup. It would hang there and even pressing F2 or F11 had no effect. This was with bios 2.10 and I can't remember if it happened with 1.90, the one I was using most before. I unplugged all drives except SATA1 but this had no effect. I could keep trying and would eventually boot, but never worked out any logic to it.

Last night I thought I'd reflash back to 1.90, using the windows flasher like I did before but it froze after it displayed mostly red blocks :( I left it for a few minutes then had to power down. Windows had completely locked up.

Rather predictably the machine won't POST/display anything now. I'm going to keep trying tonight but is there any other things I can try to do to resurrect it? Someone here kindly offered to flash someone elses bios. How would this work if the machine won't boot with it?

Sounds like you now have a corrupt bios after a bad flash.

I have fixed a couple of people on here by reflashing their bios in my system.
You take the bios chip out of the motherboard and send it to me and I will attempt to reflash it with a working bios, test it in my system and then send it back to you. The offer is there if you wish to take it up. email is in trust.

Anyone got/using Corsair 2GB DDR Value Select PC3200 CAS3.0 Kit (2x1GB) (VS2GBKIT400C3) (MY-080-CS) with this board?

Is it good memory to use in this board with a Opty? Currently running GEIL value 1gb kit but need to to offload that to another pc so upgraing to 2gb :D

Asrock Dual with Sonata II case

I've just got this board with a 3700 san diago - using a sonata II case with smartpower 2.0 PSU. Basically it won't boot. All the fans spin up - the hard disks seem to power up (sounds like they're clicking away) - but it just won't post. I've read about people having problems with this psu and board. The power led header is a 3 pin affair on the sonata II case but only 2 pin on the m/b. I've tried moving the pin over as suggested elsewhere in this thread but haven't had any luck.

Has any one else had problems and resolved them with this psu and board?

Any help much appreicated

Yeah the power led is wrong, but really that wont stop it booting even if its not connected, basically you just need to use wire cutters to snip that lead into 2, or leave it off if your not too bothered really.

As for not booting, you do have the seperate 4 pin power cable connected? its the yellow and black one.

ive just installed one yesterday and had very similar probs guess what it was memory in wrong slots put em in slot 1 and 2 should have been in 1 and 3 booted up straight away :D also any getting this board i would get a extra long ide cable cause its right at bottom of mobo also check it fits your case cause i ended up buying a new case and it still didnt fit card slots wernt in line with back of case tryed three cases and was all same beware.

in slots 1 and 3 the ram will only be running in single channel mode has to be slots 1+2 or 3+4 for dual channel

Yeah do have the separate 4 pin plug in the board. My psu worked fine with my previous board - but have read in other places the psu and antec smartpower psu not working together.
Just tried without the power led pins in at all - no luck.

Only using 1 gig stick in slot one - so this shouldn't cause a problem.

Mmmm I did have a similar problem with my Sonata II would not boot, I assumed the PSU was broken and got a replacement  So maybe the PSU was not broke at all? Anyone else had this problem?

I had this exact problem before but no solution, i was about to buy a new mobo as it happens

I tried 'everything' and even got a replacement board, thought tbh i can't remember if i tried my other PSU

I'll keep checking this thread and hopefully someone knows how to fix it, or [email protected] if anyone would be knid enough to help directly

hooked up an old psu - works no problem - however it doesnt have pci-express power connectors so i can't hook up the new 7900GT i've ordered (i assume there is no other way) - so looks like a new psu for me. :(

Glad you got it working, so I guess there is an issue with the PSU and Mobo  as I had the same problem, thankfully I kept the old PSU from the case when I replaced it and never binned it thinking it was broken.
