**The ASrock 939dual-SATA2 (ULi M1695) thread**

Well what can I say, how poor is that, They are leaving god knows how many user with no other option then to buy new hardware or not upgrade to VISTA.

Its certainly the last ASRock product I buy

So let me get this straight,

1] they never said it would support Vista
2] it was a dirt cheap motherboard that overclocked well

Please, get over yourself already, it's a good cheap motherboard that did the job they said it would and then some.

Are you for real ! GET OVER MYSELF! :D

jees being told off now.

Suppose it is totally unreasonable of me to expect a company to release a driver for what is after all only the LARGEST GOD DAMN SOFTWARE REALEASE IN THE LAST 5 YEARS

even the reboxed mobo the 939Dual-VSTA they are now failing to release a 64 bit driver for it, saying its not compatable with VISTA, then why call your product VSTA then, just a little confusing I guess.

im off to go and get over myself now, it may take some time

So you're never going to buy Asrock again because it didn't do something they never said it would?

you really arnt getting my point are you mate.

if creative turned around to all sound card owners and said ' look guys, we arnt going to bother doing VISTA drivers, but we are bringing out a brand new card for you buy instead that will work in VISTA' everyone would go crazy. well thats prob a bad company to choose because their driver support was pretty week, and they got slated for it and rightly so.

Just beucase something wasnt designed to run on a system that wasnt around at the time, does not mean that the company doesnt have an obligation to support the users that have bought these effected products, and come up with a solution.

I think that if you read that again you'll find that you're now arguing with yourself.

Hi all, been a very long time since i read this thread, but was hoping for a little advice.

I currently have an a Seagate 320GB 7200.10 SATAII drive on the SATAII port and have another 200GB SATAI drive on one (of the two) SATA I ports.

I want to add another Seagate 320GB 7200.10 SATAII drive to the system and run both 320GB's in RAID 0, but I also want to keep the 200GB drive.

Will i be able to run both SATAII drives on the two SATA I ports for RAID, and will I be getting full speed out of them even though they are running on SATA I channels?

In addition to this, will my 200GB SATA I drive work on the remaining SATA II port?

I know that sounds confusing but if i buy another 320GB drive i want to make sure RAID works to achieve maximum performance, and that my older 200GB drive doesnt go to waste!

Thanks in advance!

Sata 2 is backwards compat so will work on a sata 1 connection but it will only run at 150, while you can't use a sata 1 drive on a sata 2 connection, I might be wrong but thats what I think.

Thanks for the reply, i think that the SATA 1 drive will work from what i have read, i guess i should just try it out myself :)

Also, how does RAID perform with this mobo? I have heard some reports that running in RAID has a lot of CPU utilisation, are there any forumers running RAID 0 here? if so, how is the performance?

Thanks :)

Can anyone recommend a 1GB 2GB kit with this that can run @ 1T error free. Preferably one without heatspreaders as explained below.

Originally ran a 1GB Ballistix kit however after a few weeks of use they started to produce errors. Tested the modules on another machine and there were still errors so RMA'd these and got another pair back. The same happened with the replacement kit. Installed my 1GB Corsair 3200 XL which worked error free on another machine on this one and started to produce errors after a while again. Put the RAM back into its original machine and it retained errors. Appears that this motherboard has killed off 3 kits of RAM so far. Installed temporarily a 512Mb G.SKill kit which was the only kit without heat spreaders and now it appears to be working fine for a couple of months. Was thinking the mobo killed the RAM due to the lack of space between the dual channel slots when used with modules with heat spreaders. :)

I've been using a G.Skill ZX set for about a year now, they have heat spreaders and run faultlessly at 1T.

OK massive thread revival here but I need some Help

1. Is there any way to increase the voltage to CPU on this board? mine won't be stable at 2.4ghz which was fine in a MSI neo2.
2. Is it easy to change from AGP to PCIE graphics. I've got a AGP x800pro here and I'm going to upgrade to a 7950GT. Do I need to adjust any jumpers? Will there be driver conflicts??

i think i've got v2.2 in the Bios.

RESt of spec is a x2 3800+ at 2.4ghz
2gb OCZ platinum.
3 hdds and 2 optical

600w OCZ powerstream PSU.

Hi,
I changed from a x800xtpe (agp) to a 1950xt (pcie) didnt need to change any jumpers.
As far as drivers are concerned just make sure you remove your previous graphic card drivers before installing new card and all should go well.

Follow this guide :)

not too keen on soldering stuff and modding things, however, I wouldn't mind upgrading my motherboard now that i'm getting a PCI-E card.

One of the Asus ones will do nicely and hopefully I won't have to faff around with all the problems just to overclock.
