Just discovered that systool v1.0 Build 624 lets you up the core volts to about 1.50v with no m/b modification!!
Lets me clock from 260 to 270mz stable with prime95 using standard bios 1.4 & opty146 stock cooler :)

Xeon - that is a really good find. I'd like to try it and see if I can get my opty 146 to 3GHz. (Currently 2.90-2.95 at 1.45V.) Can you provide a link to this systool that you refer to?

dont panic, it may just be the new drivers finding the correct resolution.

i think its 6800 related - just my gut feeling.

Which page is the voltage option on in 624 ? Can't see any obvious setting for it in the latest 628 version.

Confirmed.

I have Cool & Quiet DISABLED in the bios and it seems to work a treat.

Good spot. Ta.

HELP PLEASE!

Just tried building a PC for a mate of mine, using one of these mobos. Can't get the thing to power on, very similar to the problems that edgedemon reported earlier. With the 20-pin power connector and the 4-pin connector plugged in, the PC won't start up at all - literally not a twitch. Pull out the 4-pin connector and then try, and the cpu & case fans will start, but the display doesn't come on and the machine doesn't post. Try again with the 12v 4-pin connector plugged back in, and not a peep. PSU is an "e tech Win-400PS" whatever that is, and is (apparently) rated at 400W. Dead mobo, dead PSU, or some other problem?

have you not got a orther PSU to thy?

Only the one in my rig, but I don't really want to cannibalise my pride and joy having spent the last year getting the cables all neat and tidy! Is there a fighting chance that it could be a duff PSU?

Even worse, now getting random lockups. Wish I'd stuck with the fairly decent OC I already had, running at stock at the moment. :(
