anyone using ballistix ddr500 with this mb? will it run ok at 250 cas 2.5 (2x512)

I use the Ballistix 2Gb (2x1Gb) and no, mine won't run very well at any setting over 200(ish). Currently running them at 186Mhz 2-2-2-5-T1. But it is different memory to yours.

what cpu? and bios revision?

Doesn't matter.

But.....

It's the same with my Opteron 144 CABNE 0540, Opteron CABGE 0536 and my Opteron CAB2E 0545 using any and all of the various bios versions.

Hey Xeon. Tried Systool (very useful proggy actually), but I found that the voltage change wouldn't 'stick'. I got a brief spike in voltage when I pressed 'write', but then the voltage went back to normal. I used the latest Systool, and not the version you suggest. Also, I'm on bios OCW1, and not the 1.4 bios.

The tool does allow me to reduce the voltage, though, and most other functions seem intact.

it's possible that the OCW1 has not implemented Cool & Quiet functions needed to make the vcore stick - i dought if it's the version of systool but that is of course a possibility.
Mine definately does stick using asrock bios1.4, so much so in fact that i get a 4deg internal cpu temperature rise and there is no dought the extra voltage enables my opty to go faster.
Perhaps others have the time to experiment to find out why yours isn't sticking but there seems to be conflicting reports on the success of the ocwbeta bios so until we get a clearer picture i suggest you stick with what works for you :)

Hey there

ok so have had this board for a month or so, so far so good except for some weird crashes that i am getting sometimes when I am in outlook 2003.

I thought maybe i was overclocking too much so i put everything onto auto, have changed to every bios out there including ocw, now i am with the standard 1.4 bios. Everything has been ok then suddenly bang it happened again when i was replying to an email.

I get an error message on blue screen but that goes too quickly for me to read. Any suggestions guys?

Thanks :)

right so i managed to get the error message, here it is my error message

did a search on google, maybe vid card drivers, i have latest nvidia ones

thanks

you could try uninstalling the video drivers - install the asrock agp driver first then re-install video, this appears to work for many including myself on one occasion.

Finally seem to have solved my cold boot issues after some MS updates it was either .NET 2.0 or Jungo WinDriver. I think it maybe the latter.

? ? ?

How can a Windows program cause the computer not to boot ?

hi,

got an issue, updated the bios to ocwbeta2 , completed ok according to the messages and said to restart.

on restarting the system will not boot, tried re booting without sucess and tried resetting the cmos and it still wont boot.

cant even access the bios, anyone any ideas ???

thx

Turn the PC off. Then hold down the F2 key while turning the thing back on. You may have to repeat several times.

Just keep trying; there are posts in this thread where that has happened and upto 100 reboots to get it to restart; it seems it will come back EVENTUALLY. Have a search. ;)

I had this problem, had to change the memory around before it would work.
