How do you guys find flashing the bios?

I'm on 1.2 at the moment thinking of going to 1.5 just to see if I can run my ram in 1T mode, do you have to reset the bios jumper etc after a flash or did it work fine?

I just flash and restart entering the bios straight after the restart to adjust the settings to my likings.

One or two people have had problems with the board not booting afer a flash and have had to mess around with jumpers and/or power cycling for ages to get it to boot again. No such problems here and i reckon I'm over the 100 flashes with this board.

*Note* My Ballistix memory will not work with 1T when overclocked, with any bios version.

Does this board require a 24 - 20 pin convertor for the power connecter? I have heard a few boards need one instead of just letting them hang off. I am using an Antec 430w Truepower PSU (ATX 1.1) = 24 pin + 4 pin yellow and black thingy.

Midget^.

This mobo uses the old 20 pin connector anyway.

I think some Antecs wont power up on this mobo though.

Search this thread for "antec". :)

EDIT: Sorry, misread slightly......not sure if you need the convertor. What I said about the Antecs still apply though.

Ok flashed mine to 1.50, it went fine no probs but still can't run my memory in 1T mode, ran CoD and it just gave me BSOD, same as with bios 1.20, ahh well worth a shot.

I have 1gb of Kingston Ram, 2 x 512.

Oh and this is with everything at stock speeds.

Hi everyone,

Just want some help on overclocking my CPU with this board. Ive got the AMD opteron 144 running at 2.43GHz (270*9). A the moment i cant get it any higher than that. I know that above 274 gives you a black screen on boot, so tried between 270 and 274. Each time CPU-z reports that the HTT is 270. Do i need to flash to one of the OCW beta bios' to achieve a higher clock? It seems to be stable, although didnt give it a great deal of time stress testing, probably about 20-30mins on Prime95 torture test. Any help is greatly received

Cheers

Cheers UOcUK, where abouts can I get it and where are the instructions for creating a boot disk top flash the bios? Also, what HTT and core speed have you achieved with the beta 2 BIOS?

Asrock site will tell you how to actually make the flash etc.

Just make the floppy bootable first, can be done in options menue I think when you format the floppy in windows.

Cheers again, will get reading, I realise i flash the bios at my own risk, which is why im being very caustious about doing it at the moment. Cheers for your help

If I swap from an AGP card (x800) to a PCIe card (7800gt) do I have to uninstall the mobo's AGP driver?

Anyone know?

And do I set the video output to PCI in the bios (does it actually mean PCIe??)

Thanks for your help. :)

I went from a agp 6600gt to a pci-e 7800gt and just uninstalled the agp driver & I've had no problems.

Set it to pci-e in the bios mate.

did you see big difference in performance in games? As i am thinking of doing this upgrade in the near future?

Thanks

So you mean the ULi agp driver you uninstalled? :)

Also it just says PCI in the bios not PCIe?

Assume you just mean PCI option in bios though?

Thanks for help. :)

Yes the difference was quite a lot, you might see less as your going from a 6800 though.
