**The ASrock 939dual-SATA2 (ULi M1695) thread**

Without trawling through the last 48pages - what BIOS do i need to clock up my opteron?

I've read about the FSB etc but i cant find *any* options in the BIOS at all for OC'ing (except memory to DDR400 + adjusting cpu multiplier). Its currently v1.20 which im sure i read as being the best one to use for clocking but mine doesnt seem to let me.

I'm a complete noob to overclocking & had a 146 @ stock for 3months so any help would be appreciated!

Also i have 3x512 geil value sticks if that makes any difference. What should i be expecting with this ?

Thanks

far as im aware it will run single channel, u need 4x512 for dual channel.

if u're running something like battlefield2 i'd run the 3x512.

I thought dual channel only worked for 2 identical sticks and any more would be single channel (even 4 sticks)

Mate, without sounding rude;with what youve just printed here, it is *best* you learn some of the quirks of your mobo ,so you can ask questions that are going to get the overclock you want. Most of us will have read most of the pages, maybe twice.what im saying is, it isnt trawling, its learning the unique lingo of your asrock 939.Most of your intial answers will be in the first 15 pages.

Its also not called FSB anymore its HTT or others,

and the bios i use, is ocw beta 1 with the htt without the 275 limit. There is a new one 1.6 out at asrock.

Well to be honest i asked as once i saw the first few pages were from back in August - i imagined that the standard BIOS everyone now uses for overclocking would have come out a good while after & didnt feel like going through every single page trying to find it. Oh and when i say "trawling" i simply mean reading through them all not trawling trawling.

Also the posts iv seen so far are people saying what clocks they have and not *How* they've got them - i know where to change the multiplier etc but when i try to change the mhz it wont let me.

Edit: oh now i see why. doh, you have to type the bloody thing!

il look into the OCW Bios now and yes, im very very new to this!

cheers for the tips btw

type 250 Mhz, memory 333 and async, HTT 800, volts default and high for memory.

that's a quick guide ;)

Ahh! now thats all i was looking for, basic outline of it, cheers! :D

Managed to do all that except for the HTT which i wanted to be 100% sure on first, i'm guessing its the CPU - NBRIDGE/CPU - SBRIDGE link speeds?

It booted up fine even though i didnt change the HTT speeds, il give it a proper go tomorrow with prime95 etc when get the chance. got the same stepping as yourself too albeit with an arctic pro 64 so hopefully should do okay.

big thanks for that mate!

Have anyone with a x2 3800+ done a Vmod? How do I do it with that cpu? I can reach 2.6ghz with 1.4V, but I guess I could get to around 2.8ghz with 1.5V. And I also have to flash with the OCWB2 bios, right? I currently have the newest 1.6 bios.

Thinking of picking up this board this week, just wondering what chip to put in it. down to 1 of 2 choices

3700+

Opteron 146

I will be using it with a 6800GT and 2 gig of corsair 2t (the deal OCUK did a a while ago)

dont mind tinkering in the bios but i want a stable fast system. thanks in advance

might be able to, just know my opty couldnt and hadn't seen any posts of anyone that could.

Nope. No current memory controller can run 4 double sided DIMMS at 1T. Unless[/b/] you have that fandangled DFI ATi chipset board that can, but only at DDR400. It does this with witchcraft.
