The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

As pcm2 mentioned above, it should work on any card with dp1.2, with gsync restricted to a 650ti or above. So basically you need anything from around the HD5000 series (think these were the first lot of amd cards to sport dp?) or gtx600 series or above.

I don't think amd users should be put off of the monitor due to not having functional gsync or 3dvision, they will still get the full benefit of a 1440p 8bit 144hz TN which is a big selling point alone.

So it will work with a HD5870? It has a displayport connection but I'm fairly sure it's not 1.2

1440p and 144hz are certainly the selling points for me. I want a nVidia GPU in my next upgrade for G-Sync but until then I want to use the monitor with my 5870.

Also, are there any high end single GPUs with multiple displayport connections? I'd love to dual-screen these but it doesn't look that simple!

You can still use the monitor, but I'm not sure at which refresh rate. Your GPU only has DP 1.1a which doesn't have sufficient bandwidth for 120/144Hz @ 2560 x 1440. You could possibly run it at 85Hz or 100Hz. It would work at 60Hz, certainly, until you get a newer GPU.

Thanks! I'll almost certainly do a GPU upgrade then. Is there any way at all to run two of these from a single GPU? Whether that means some sort of DVI>DP adapter or otherwise? I saw an Asus Matrix card around with multiple DP connections, but it's a 280x I was ideally looking for an nVidia GPU.

The reason I ask, is that I although I only game on one screen, I dual screen and it's always frustrating having two totally different screens, with this, I suspect that the difference will be even worse!

**** yeah baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pre order going in shortly. Eta???

Also description says it's an IPS?

Also you left the price in the top title, or is this a windup?

Edit: clicky brings dissapointment :(

Price is unknown, could be £799.99, Asus are yet to decide.
And yes it is TN.

We should be able to take pre-orders next week. Asus know we have a lot of end-users waiting so our trying to sort for us.

Good stuff, thanks for the update and clarification :)

Hopefully it sticks at £599 or less as Asus stated an $800 retail price.

Won't pay £800 for it, £600 give or take is my max. I doubt I'll even get £200 selling my benq xl2411t on, then having to pay £600 on top of that would be too much.
