The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

that's how it should be (can't blame anyone for stock levels) but it clearly hasn't gone that way for a fair few, hence asking for a clarification.

If that is how they indeed do it, then great, asus have come on a long way from my last rma experience with them.

I sure can blame them, keeping a suitable amount of stock of a popular premium product for existing customers shouldn't be difficult. Yet going on what has been said in this thread Asus don't seem to be able to do that.

Are these panels/displays that hard to produce or something or is there so many going back they can't keep up.

I personally think it is more down to the product being held to a higher standard, meaning that faults are more likely to be noticed and reported by gamers than other consumers. They could well be hard to produce fault free as well, due to a higher complexity I guess with the G Sync module etc.

Hi Jim - Asus, good to see you guys have a rep on here.

Could you please clarify exactly what - Warranty: 3yr (On-Site with Asus) actually means?

everyone seems to have a different opinion on it, but it would be great to hear from you what it actually is.

Don't know for certain, but I'll find out and let you know.

Thanks for looking into this Jim, appreciated.

@Speed - In a perfect world yes, but if demand is high and they have someone wanting to buy one right this instant, then they will and should take the sale.

I'm no fan of asus, this and the stx2 are the only products I will probably only ever buy from them (no offence to you Jim) but i wouldn't want or expect them to operate in that way, it makes zero sense.

OK, straight from the horse's mouth (so to speak, he's quite a nice chap)

"All screens have a 3 year on site pick up return warranty. The courier will bring a replacement monitor when they collect the faulty one. If a claim is made within the 7 day DOA period the user will get a new unit as replacement."

Thanks Jim, very helpful

So if someone is outside the 7 day period or it develops a fault after the 7 days, the person could end up with a refurb? But still a doorstep exchange?

Generally companies will try to fix the product (if it is past the 14 day guarantee) first and if not then they send a "new" replacement to you, afaik, asus are the only ones to send refurbs as replacements (at least out of the "big" companies)

I love asus products but their CS/RMA puts me of completely. Complete joke getting a refurb replacement for a £600+ monitor that isn't even a year old imo.

It sounds like asus have improved their CS in the last year though so at least they are doing something unlike Acer....

I think it is for most hardware and most companies, unless new hardware is needed to resolve the problem, but each product has its own terms etc and I don't know precisely the conditions of each.

That's bloody crazy. How can anyone justify spending 600+ on a monitor with the possiblity of recieving a refurb month/sweeks after owning it. Maybe I wouldn't dwell on this if I knew the product was going to last some time but swift is just throwing out problems.

Unfortunately this won't be for me. If I was paying such a price I would expect at least two digits than 1.

Doubtful they will make any 2560x1600 with gsync... that aspect ratio is being mostly phased out. There will be more (and already are some) 3840x2160 monitors with gsync though.

For gaming, the monitor will be a great successor... for working with images / rendering / etc... no, the Dell is better.

Run both side-by-side?

I never even thought about running them side by side...but now that you have said it, that's an awesome idea! Thanks crinkleshoes! I'm going to that!

Ano, best thing I can say is buy it and try it for yourself, you are covered by DSR - once you play games on this then you will see what the fuss is about.

I and many others have had one of these for months with no issues. These have been selling incredibly well, so numbers of problems seem high but as an actual percentage you are still very unlikely to have any problems.
