The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

As you know lads, size matters, would this monitor be a worthy successor to my Dell 30" 3008WFP (2560x1600)...or should I wait for the same 30"+ monitors with g-sync(will they make them?)?

Doubtful they will make any 2560x1600 with gsync... that aspect ratio is being mostly phased out. There will be more (and already are some) 3840x2160 monitors with gsync though.

For gaming, the monitor will be a great successor... for working with images / rendering / etc... no, the Dell is better.

Run both side-by-side?

Im staring at the box for mine today. Totally gutted! Had the day at home today, really wanted to play with it. Goes back to OCUK tomorrow hopefully but will probable have to wait until next week until I get a replacement. Arghhh :( Just my damned luck.

that sucks, dead on arrival?

Could anyone advise what type of monitor the samsung syncmaster sa700 is? I want to know if the colour difference will nag me or not when moving to the swift

It is Twisted Nematic, like the PG278Q. You may find the difference in screen surface the most obtrusive aspect, but general image characteristics will be quite comparable to what you're used to. I'm sure you'll enjoy the upgrade in resolution, responsiveness and features though.

Did ocuk pay to pick it up if not they should and also drop off a new one after the money you have spent.

OCUK are picking it up tomorrow, but I have to wait for them to inspect it before they send another out, so I won't get one until next week now. :(

No idea if it worked or not, didnt plug it in. The CD wasn't in a sleeve, the cables were not bagged, the protective bag around the monitor was ripped, the monitor is covered in dust and theres finger prints and smudges and marks and scratches all over the screen. Basically its used. Either they mistakingly sent me a B grade one, or Asus sent OCUK a used monitor as new stock?! Either way for almost £600 I don't think its unreasonable to want a new one. Who knows the history of this one?

My cursor has been hovering over the buy button for a few weeks now but I'm really holding out for an IPS 144Hz G-Sync.

I know Acer have their Acer Predator XB270HU IPS G-Sync 144Hz coming next month but I'd prefer Asus due to their style of housing/stand.
