The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

After the GTA driver update my monitor seems to be constantly stuck in Gsync mode even on the desktop. The red light is constantly on, it never did this before. Any ideas?

I was also getting a d3d error in game every 15-20mins or so. Rolled back to old drivers and so far its been fine. So I'll stick with the old ones for the time being and see what happens.

Happened to me right after the install but then I disabled gsync, rebooted and enabled it again and its been working properly since so far. Tried to sort it on another system (not mine) though and it just keeps enabling it not sure if its related to the GPU difference (970 v 780) between the systems.

It appears to only affect the LED. I ran a benchmark with Gsync off for the application, and one with Gsync on. The LED was red for both benchmarks but as you can see from the results Gsync was off when it was toggled off.

Screen refresh rate set @ 144Hz.

I am waiting out for 980 TI to run both in SLI, possibly with an RoG Swift. The horror stories however is really a turn off. I currently have a BenQ XL2420G 144Hz at 1080p. I suppose SLI with my current monitor is overkill, but for me anything below 80fps is unsmooth. So wondering if the 1440p makes a difference or not and is it worth the perfomance loss, considering I want 80-100 fps on most AAA games.

If Asus can manufacture a v2 I am very likely to buy one, but not atm.

Hey all,

Bought one today to use. I have a 3440x1440 monitor which is great, but in some stuff it's input lag is just too much for competitive gaming.

However, maybe the IPS panel spoiler me. I know this wasn't going to look as good, but it looks very washed out and poor. I can overcompensate but I can really get it to look anywhere near as nice as my LG, in terms of colour reproduction etc.

Faulty or just how it is?

^^ You need to set gamma via the nVidia control panel down to somewhere around 0.86-0.92 or so the Asus default gamma curve is poor :S and unlike most other monitors can't be adjusted on the panel itself.

Gamma options definitely helped thanks.

I didn't realise how different it was. I probably would never notice without them side by side to be fair. Damn. It's brand new, hopefully can get a return. I'll wait for the IPS 144hz one.

ICM profile stuff isn't mandatory infact if your tweaking gamma via the nVidia control panel it can be a bit tricky to get both working together.

One thing I've noticed is that the panel seems to "settle" a bit over the first week of use typically a bit of a red hint out the box which balances out over a few days.

That's definitely better. Desktop looks more or less the same now, dark blues look different, and white looks ever so slightly off colour, so much that If it wasn't next to my other monitor I don't think I'd notice. Does that sound about right?

Whites should be pretty much bang on if you've got it setup right - they will look a little grainy compared to an IPS panel due to some quirks of the panel used in the Swift.

Blues though you'll never get the same depth or vibrancy as a good IPS panel.

I'm a pretty terrible judge either way. Still, thanks for the help, I'll keep tweaking for now and see what happens. Still looks great, just different. I'm wondering if GTA V was just a particularly noticeable case due to the lighting system.
