The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

Is a single GTX980 enough grunt to run one of these along with 4770k @ 4.2 GHZ & 16GB ram on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Looking to replace a broken Qnix QX2710 and like look of the Gsync but as mini itx cannot add second card for SLI in future

Absolutely more then enough mate, I have 780ti and can pretty much max all games. I just don't use AA because at 1440p it's not really needed

Just to post my results with these monitors...

Bought 2 of these 16th Jan, switched on last night to find 1 unit now has fuzzy/blurry text over 2/3 of screen and flickering with G-Sync on! Not very happy, especially as I'm being told I will now receive a refurbished model even though only 92 days old (if my quick math calculation is correct)!

Doesn't fill me with confidence that a) my 2nd monitor won't suffer any issues as it's serial number is the exact next number in sequence, and b) the refurb won't exhibit problems after time...

Sorry for the negative post... was just feeling a little ticked off after spending premium money for what I thought were premium monitors!

Refurb replacement is normal for a product swap out after the first month or so has passed so it can't be classed as dead on arrival.

From reports of others, the quality of the asus refurbs is good.
Thanks for the info... it is good to hear! Let's see how the RMA process goes now - currently waiting an email confirmation...

Plus the fact you're getting a refurb back which could be even worse, Be damaged in some way etc....

Then you would send it back???

The reports of the refurbs people have been receiving on here state that they are like new...

Viewsonic were running a similar thing a few years ago with one of my first 1920x1200 TFTs... ended up having to RMA them about 3 times before I got a good one... all the refurbs seemed like new until something went wrong :p lol

If you're worried about things going wrong... why don't you just not buy anything, ever and stick all that money in a savings account to accrue interest... that you'll never spend. Give it to someone who knows what to do with the money? ie... it's for spending :p

Then that's actually not bad.

I had to RMA my 27" 1440P Asus IPS a year ago and they sent back 1 with a massive scratch in the screen and then it took another 5 weeks to get a replacement.

just a tad dubious as this monitor is the shizznitz but I'm sceptical due to the overwhelming amount of people with issues on here, Asus forums and other places.

That doesn't sound good, I'd certainly hope you were in the minority receiving a replacement unit like that.

Look for other monitors & other manufacturers' forums etc... I'm sure you will see similar things... just likely you are focused on this one at the moment so may not have taken those others into account :)

The issues get the most attention because people rarely comment when they get what they expect and it works well.

Although I'm aware some people have been having issues, it's my understanding that the vast majority have had a good quality monitor first time round.

If there are problems, either with a new monitor, a new replacement monitor (as you'll see, most of the people in the thread have received boxed new replacements) or indeed a refurb, then we'll replace it under warranty.

And if you have any trouble with the returns, I'll look into it and do what I can to get it sorted.

Thought i would share my rma experience.

My Swift has been acting funny and would turn on after 1-20min after i have turned off the monitor and after a few hours would require the power pack to be unplugged for a few seconds before reconnecting and it would power up again.

I called up customer services and within 5min a deal was struck and i had to fill in a RMA form which took 1 min. and after 3 days the replacement monitor was sent to my doorstep. What they dont tell you in the email is that you should take the replacement out of the box and put the one you are sending back in the box.

The panel i got was a refurb unit. There are no scracthes or marks on the screen or bezel. but you can tell it was not new from the back.

After testing the panel it seems i still have the same problem. I did request a new power pack, but they did not send one, so i got on the phone again and within 5 min i was told a replacement power pack will be sent out, and i should recieve it tomorow.

Overall i feel the RMA experience hassle free. yes i didnt get a new panel, but if i wasnt happy with the condition i was told i can request another one. the time it took for the whole process was quick. Compared to past RMA experiences i am very happy.
