The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

Wasnt the point of g-sync so you get no more screen tearing any more no matter what the refresh rate is?

Why would they make this change? seems to make g sync exponentially worse or am i missing something?

Its optional - some people i.e. CS players like to render as fast as possible, even with tearing, but prefer gsync to the alternative if/when they aren't able to exceed their monitor refresh.

Had a quick search but couldn't find anything regarding my new issue with my Swift! For the last few weeks, my swift refuses to come out of standby if my PC enters sleep mode. I am running it on a 980, Windows 8.1, no hardware or software changes. I have now had chance to test it on another rig with a 970, fresh OS install and the same thing happens! It just sits there in standby and does not come back until I reboot. Anyone else experienced this?

I get this issue quite a lot. I have to turn the monitor off at the mains for 30 seconds or so and turn it back on until it works again sometimes it won't even come out if standby unless I do this. Also when my pc iss off the monitor will just randomly turn on every hour or so display the asus rog startup logo, then the no signal message and go back into stand by.

That is caused by the poor quality power supply. Been there done that. Common issue with the monitor.

Used to shut down pc at night monitor off , come see it in morning and it was back on , was like WTF! lol

I replaced my Power supply with FOR ASUS ADP-90SB BB 19V 4.74A 100-240V CHARGER +CORD AC ADAPTER POWER SUPPLY from the bay and didnt look back! not had that issue anymore.

Dunno if its the warmer weather but had the gsync module crash on me twice today :( hope its not a sign of impeding failure.

Screen goes black for a bit then flickers showing the last screen and then comes back but only shows the last screen it was on (constantly renders whatever was last in the buffer) - PC is still running fine in the background (other monitor connected works fine) - rebooting PC and it starts working again but is limited to 85Hz until I power the whole monitor off and on again.

Can a PS4 run with this monitor being that it only has a Display port. if it can, can somebody tell me which cable would be needed since I randomly bought a HDMI to Display port cable to test my laptop and it didnt work.

It's display port only, so I don't believe it will work on anything else but a PC.

I could be wrong though. ;-)

Just got this monitor yesterday and love it. Just want to check though, is it best to set it at 144hz with G-Sync on using a 980Ti?

Looks great I have to say.

You would need an active converter, not a passive one. Even then, I'm not sure whether the signal would confuse the gsync module and fail to work anyway. Never tried it myself :)
