The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

Hey can someone tell me if an 4690k and a msi 970 gtx are enough for me to consider upgrading to this monitor ?

Totally worth it - running one on a GTX780 here. You might occasionally have to ease off on the AA a little bit compared to 1080p but its a small sacrifice for the benefits of the resolution and refresh rate.

Argh - I've had one of these for about 2 months (so more than the OCUK coverage for faulty pixels), and I've now got a dead pixel which is in a really irritating place. It's not off to one side, so it's constantly in my field of vision. I have another in the bottom left corner which isn't anywhere near as irritating, but it worries me a bit that I have two of these.

Anyone have any pointers on whether it's worth trying to get a replacement or whether I'm pretty much out of luck? And if it is worth trying to get a replacement, would I need to send this one off first? It was a replacement for a monitor that was barely working, and I'm in the middle of re-writing bits of my dissertation so I can't really be without a monitor until after the end of the month. :(

With Asus Its an exchange service. Courier comes to your door, you take the new one out of a box and place your old one in. Simple as that.

My replacement is working fine, as I hear others are.
Some people however keep getting bad ones.

I was hoping to jump in here to find people raving after the monitor being out so long. I had one a while back with my old build and loved it. Was tempted with a new one but nah

Not sure what's going on with monitor makers. Maybe they're rushing to beat their competition only to release crap

It's still the best FPS gaming monitor there is IMO. When you get a good one that is.

Agreed 100%

Had mine for nearly a year and it's great, games are so much smoother on it.

Feel bad for the people getting faulty monitors, especially when they have had to RMA more than once, what's happened to manufacturer's  is there no pride in there workmanship :(

My Swift has suddenly started having the following issue:

Switching on the monitor after it has been off overnight does nothing. The power switch seems to have no effect whatsoever. Looking inside the vent at the top I can see the little LED which is always there, so it does have power.

The only way I can get it to power up is to unplug it from the mains and plug it back in. After doing this the power switch works normally, until the next day

Its the power supply, if you call Asus they will raise an rma for you, if they say they wont then persist or call back to get someone different, make it clear its the power supply and NOT the monitor otherwise they'll raise an RMA for the monitor and you don't get a new psu if they do that

Having said that, I called about 3 weeks ago and filled in the online form they sent me but I've still not heard anything from them

Yep I'm still having issues getting them to understand I just need a new PSU. I had an entire monitor arrive at the door and had to reject delivery. Rang them back up and they assure me they've rejigged it to just send me a PSU. I've had the same generic RMA accepted message so fingers crossed it works out this time!

I give up on getting a replacement from Asus; as I have read others have had weak replacements.

So,
I bought an Asus laptop power adapter off ebay (following suggestions from the ROG forum) It has exactly the same specs as the official Asus power adapter for the Swift.

I got it hooked up yesterday, and now my swift seems fine. No more random power-on's in the middle of the night. ;)

Ah thanks, just seen another post on this too.

Just got back off of my holiday, started to fill in the RMA request and noticed that the address field isn't long enough for my address (being sent to where I work as I can't have any time off for the moment).

I have sent them a support ticket to see what they can do but I am guessing that will slow down the process.

My question, what do I put as my date of purchase? I originally paid for it on the 20th of October but it didn't arrived from OcUK until the 10th of December. I am presuming I put the date I actually received the item rather than the date I paid for it?

Looking over this thread noticing a lot of RMA issues and problems. I have got three of these screens and only had an issue with one of them this is within 2015 tho. I think they have gotten a lot better I was never without a screen!
