The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

That black screen flicker sounds like what happens to me on high res/refresh panels when the displayport connection isn't 100% stable for whatever reason :S

The cable i bought does seem a bit loose at the card end compared to the one that came with the monitor. But when i used it i had the refresh rate being locked issue. First a max of 24Hz, then 85Hz.

I know it'll lock you at 85Hz, but maybe try the other cable and see if the issues go away? Then you'll know if it's cable quality...

It's shocking :)

I've only just gotten up to speed with this thread. Has anyone has theirs repaired? And what is usually the turnaround time?

Mine took slightly over 3 weeks - I've heard some people having to wait almost 9 weeks. Usually you get it swapped at the door.

Mine started going like that but only for whites - all other colours remained displayed on screen and text went super fuzzy - once mine went it didn't go back to working at all even for short periods.

Quite a few have had to RMA them going by this thread. Iirc, Dicehunter has stated that he's been through 7 swifts. Support from asus doesnt seem to be that great either.

IMO faultless ones are the exception not the rule - nearly every owner I've talked to has RMA'd one atleast once. Pretty shocking really its like they did no testing at all.

I'll be monitoring my RMA like a hawk (new psu required). Gave them a call yesterday in response to their automated email suggesting a full panel replacement will be booked in. He assured me it'd just be a psu that would be sent out and he'd contact the RMA team instructing them to do so. Will see what happens and I'll post my experience here. I'll be sure to name and shame them where I can if it all goes wrong :)

Well it's been a few weeks now and I finally gave up and bought one of the replacement PSUs that was quoted in this thread off the bay to remedy my 'monitor turning on by itself' issue.

*Touchwood* I can safely say that it's solved the problem, but Asus seem to have a real problem with stock levels at the moment with these power supplies. Not sure what it's like for the monitors - not that good either from what I've seen in this thread....

I'll certainly think twice about buying anything from Asus again based on what I've seen here. Waste of time.

I'm considering the same. They aren't the "OMG AMAZING" wow factor company that they used to be. Plenty of alternatives to RoG.

Are we all thinking along the same lines, in that the product itself has design flaws? I'm going to try seeking a full (or at least partial) refund I think. I've totally lost faith in it now. It's time for an X34.

I'm struggling to believe at this point anything other than that the majority of panels rather than the exception are destined to die - been asking around a bit and pretty much everyone I know who has/does own one has RMA'd it atleast once - including those with the newer 2015 panels that were supposedly more reliable.

Hoping something else comes along by the time this replacement dies if it does as I kind of like gaming at 2560x1440 120+Hz and would prefer to have G-SYNC now rather than not though could live without it.

EDIT: Kind of hope this one doesn't die as though RMAing was a pain I've actually ended up with a panel with noticeably higher image quality than my original panel - maybe it was an indication of a fault from the start.

From the reports of the benq 27" freesync and the dell gsync 27", it sounds like the panel manufacturer went with a lighter anti-glare coating as numerous people reported much better image quality in terms of the screen popping more and looking clearer when they received their benq screens back for the freesync/AMA overdrive bug even with the same settings.

I wonder if the issue regarding these swifts failing after a certain amount of usage is down to the panel or/and gsync module, afaik there hasn't been any reports of the benq's failing yet....

Yeah, I agree. I really don't want a replacement for it to go the same way as mine. That's why I wanted to know if OcUK had maybe had word from Asus regarding the issues.

I'm on my 4th Swift, bought on release day.

However, my friend bought one about a month later and his has been perfect, so there certainly are some that don't die.

Yeah, mine has been perfect, touch wood, only the power brick issue, which I got a replacement from Asus and also got one of the delta ones.

I'm pretty sure UK law makes an allowance for the fact that its not reasonable to keep having to go without while having something repaired/replaced and you can start asking for a refund instead of an RMA.

Mine was perfectly fine for a year almost to the day - I've talked to people that had one fail in as little as 4 weeks and others that have lasted over a year before failing but the manner they go wrong is largely consistent so IMO its more likely to be a matter of time than if.

Anyone suffering from vertical line interlacing issues on fast moving objects?

Mine only started doing that when it went faulty.
