The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

To be honest guys, Its a lucky dip no matter what high-end monitor you buy right now. :(

Seems to be the case at the moment.

I'm looking to upgrade my Samsung 23" (3 of them) around xmas (i.e. after bonus time) and this monitor is the one I've been eyeing up.

If it was just 1 screen I wouldn't be too concerned but as I'll be going for 3 (plus 2 new gfx cards) the issues that come with new screens these days are putting me off a bit.

Apart from that the monitor seems to be excellent as long as you get decent ones.

Ordered one of these today after much deliberation between this and the ips variant.

Now to wait 24 hours before I can get my hands on it. :(

I return impressed. Massive PQ jump from my old BenQ XL2420T (1080P). Seems I have a fault-free unit too. Now to revisit my entire game library to appreciate the improvements.

Gets even worse for me. After filling in the same form I filled in 10 weeks ago at the request of the RMA department I've received a reply from the same person who told me to ring the RMA department telling me to fill in yet another different form..........

I don't get why you people have had so much grief. The repair center said they were waiting on stock when I RMA'd mine a few months ago. I called once or twice max and got an ETA and told them I needed it ASAP and I had one within a few days.

RMAception... :p

I had a fairly smooth experience with my monitor RMA as well; and I didn't even call them, did it all by email. Mine took about a week or so.

It was with the PSU that things got a little frustrating. I ended up buying third party, and that's worked out great so far.

However,... I've since got a stuck blue pixel in the middle of the screen. I noticed about a week ago. :(
Surprisingly, I've not found it too distracting so far. So here's hoping it will unstick its self at some point in the near future.

I am getting to the stage where I'm thinking of just biting the bullet and buying a third party charger. But it's the infuriating principle of the matter.

I've e-mailed there complaints department seperately now as well. Even their agents just dont seem to give a toss. Everyone I've spoken too seems completely disinterested to the extent they wont even let you explain how dissatisfied you are without trying to cut you off and just fob you off to the RMA sites :( Suffice to say I'll not be putting a penny of my money Asus' way again.

3 weeks on no movement on my RMA worse still to add insult to injury having to use the old XL2420T during this time for gaming...

Replacement turned up today pretty much out of the blue - as it is missing a cover on one of the screws (though can't remember if mine was like that or not) on the panel itself I'd guess its refurbished but otherwise is in as new condition (the plastic film over certain parts appears to be the original). So far not spotted any dead pixels seems largely the same as my previous panel, reasonable uniformity, low backlight bleed, etc. except has a slightly yellower image with default settings where my original was slightly red and has very slightly more backlight bleed - nothing major but there is a slightly lighter band along the bottom and the bottom left corner that my original didn't have.

EDIT: Images online show the same screw uncovered so its possible its a completely new panel.

Lucky you, I just got mine without any stickers on it.
Went to change the colour temp and it already had a user setting of 96,98,100 in there so I'm guessing this is a refurb.

Initial inspection seems ok. No dead pixels, decent colour uniformity. The swapover was clumsy at the door. Guy had to unbox it and repackage the old one.

Some differences between this panel and my old one, I can't be sure without a side by side comparison but I'd swear the image on this one is sharper - atleast text looks clearer than old one ever did on a good day and overdrive seems to work differently - on the same overdrive settings mid-tones are far clearer in motion (I've spent far too much time tracking the drones flying overhead on the BF4 test map) but it seems to be at the expense of white/black/high contrast where there is a little more overdrive artefacts/haloing.

Decided to try a new power brick. Git the swift hooked up along with my old 20" vx2025. In windows monitor settings I could select 144hz, hit apply but get a black screen and no signal message. Disconnected the viewsonic, rebooted the system on the swift. But the max res I can select is 85hz. Using the supplied DP cable.

Edit. Removed the supplied DP cable and used the one I purchased last week. Image shows fine and I can at last select the full choice of resolutions upto and including 144Hz. Yippee.:D

Nice - hope it stays working :D the supplied cable seemed a bit loose fitting and poor quality at the plugs to me.

Looks like I'm gonna have to source a replacement PSU though - just realised the 19v 100watt adaptor I'd repurposed is going to be needed for something else for awhile and I don't trust the original one any more.

The cable i bought separately actually feels slacker than the supplied one. Bit shorter too. Power brick also feels cooler to the touch than the one that came with the monitor. Mate has told me i can hang onto it so that saves me from having to order one.:D

As I mentioned in your Dell thread easy, no problems here. I use google as my home page so I've used the mouse on a white background a lot. Same with windows.

Done and looks fine, what am I looking for ?

White noise around the pointer...

Does the rog allow to change between normal and fast response times ?

While keeping the refresh 144hz
