The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

Mines been fine since getting the new power brick. Such a shame thy just cant gear their support service up better! If I'd had a new power brick within a week (hell even within 2) I'd have been quite happy.

Which would you have If you could have a faultless tn swift or ips swift? I'm prepared to send them back until I get a good one.

Has anyone had both?

Depends - if you are a hardcore FPS gamer there is no substitute - the TN Swift has significantly better clarity of objects in motion. Otherwise the IPS has better image quality and more than good enough for all other types of games.

Urgh... just noticed a dead pixel in the top left-hand corner of my display. Hardly noticeable and it's not central or in the way, but it's very difficult to unsee it now!

Might be a daft question, but what's the QC like on the newer versions of this monitor if I was going to get a replacement (not via Asus warranty, but brand new)? If they're still fault-ridden I'll either keep this one or just go for a refund, but I see that the Gsync options are very limited - Asus or Acer :(

QC on the IPS version is the same, Work mate of mine bought 3 of the IPS for surround and has dead pixels on each of them.

Finally got my hands on 3 of these end of last week :)

Can't see anything wrong with mine, although I'm not so crucial about backlight bleed and just the awesomeness of having surround on them probably hides the fact :)

Now to wait and see if the power supplies go wonky lol

Ouch, that's a bad deal - is he sending them all back?

Got a bit of time to decide as I bought this off the rainforest and they've said they'll take it off me any time within 12 months of purchase (March 2015). I can only get a refund from them though as they've stopped stocking them..

Nah it's only 1 dead pixel on each and they are right up against the bezel in the top left and right corners.

That refund offer is epic, Shame this place only does a 2 week refund, Might have to start shopping more with the rainforest.

Look at the backlight bleed on this one :D fingers crossed it doesn't die - for all the hassle I actually ended up with a very nice replacement panel.

Had to leave the bias lighting on to even get anything in the image (its not offsetting any bleed).

EDIT: Dunno if its because mine is broken but the original power supply is a heap of junk - under load the regulation is shockingly bad - could be half the reason these panels are dying.

Is that switched on ? Looks like a standby light thats on at the bottom right.

My thoughts exactly.

My friend has one of these monitors, he regrets it immensely due to the horrible backlight bleed, really distracts in dark movies etc.

He's considering selling it and moving to AMD, now that he saw my BenQ XL2730Z with absolutely no backlight bleed :p
