The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

People are only wringing about price because the obvious gouging that's going on

Once others release 144hz 1440p asus can go shove it

That's really the whole point, even at the RRP it's not worth its price. Acer have a UHD G-Sync display for less, it really doesn't make any sense why this display is so expensive outside of gouging.

Oh wow you're really deluding yourself aren't you? Why would I want a ROG swift when I have 3x IPS 2560x1440 monitors already? Stop being so delusional.

Also, it's you couldn't care less. Claiming that you could care less means you actually do care. Derp.

Which all operate @ 144hz with g-sync right? I can see the green eyed monster rearing it's ugly head throughout your posts.

Wow you really are delusional. The refresh rate is irrelevant to me, I don't do TN because of the colour shift, and image quality > refresh rate, the very same reason why I'm not getting a TN "4K" UHD monitor. Why are you obsessed with jealousy? It's very weird that that's the only thing that you can process.

I think the point was Kiwi the 4k gsync monitor will be the 1st of its kind on the market as well, yet ACER haven't went nuts with the pricing.

Retro you keep stating you couldn't care less so why do you appear in every thread saying so and crapping on anyone's opinion that goes against your own.

Silly little child who can barely string a sentence together never mind put an opinion across correctly.

It's got nothing to do with being able to afford it, the argument started through that InSync guy insulting people who preferred IPS, I didn't even say that either he just assumed so.

Mate to be fair you are doing exactly the same. Appearing on every thread about the swift moaning about it. If you don't like the price fine but there is no need to look down your nose at the people who don't mind paying.

Not at all, please go check the amount of posts Retro has made about this or 4k.

I'm not looking down my nose at anyone, if they don't mind paying it that's fine by me but I won't have people pooping on other peoples preference because they're obsessed with this monitor.

Exactly mate. He's a asshat. don't care:)

Point proven again.

Were you trying to be clever. How cute:)

Why don't you have SLi 780s? Or Titans? Couldn't you afford them? Why don't you have 3 ROG Swifts? Couldn't you afford them? How about your CPU, it's a bit poverty don't you think? Why don't you have a 4930K? Why don't you have a full custom watercooling loop? You couldn't afford that either? You must be really poor there.

I expect any criticism, and excuses for why you don't have any of the above will be purely a defense mechanism because you just can't afford the hardware, and absolutely nothing to do with the fact that you don't find value in the hardware I listed.

It's the price that's being criticised, not the people. However, RetrogamerX is doing a very good job of making a show of himself without anyone else helping.

I'm well aware of the benefits of high res IPS screens - I used to own a 30" DELL. But the fact is they are rubbish for gaming. The point that you seem to not get is that this is the first monitor which has a combination of high res and 144hz 1ms GTG which will destroy an IPS when playing games. If I wanted to buy a monitor for graphic design or anything else but gaming I'd buy a high end IPS screen but the whole context of this discussion is regarding gaming.

So with that said, price is only relative to scarcity and competition and there is very little of both regarding this monitor.

So how exactly does jealousy fit in here then? As I said I don't do TN due to the colour shift, for me image quality > refresh rate, which you can't seem to process and instead claim it's "jealousy".

I'm wondering why all the people happy with gaming on IPS screen are spending so much time on a TN panel thread trading insults, why do you even care if you are never going to buy one? :)

I don't tend to read threads, let alone comment on them for products I have no interest in. :D

For me, I dislike IPS for gaming as even the best suffer ghosting and the better colour representation doesn't make up for it.

Before this monitor was revealed I just wanted a TN 2560x1440 panel, but they don't make them. :/

Take note I use IPS and a CRT for work and I wouldn't be without them for that. :)

Maybe, just maybe because I am interested in this monitor just not at the OCUK price? How do you know I haven't preordered elsewhere ;)

Not once have I stated the SWIFT doesn't interest me the point is I don't like seeing others state their opinion on TN/IPS, 144hz or 4k as fact and offer poor advice based on their own experience. For example you don't need 20 titans to run 4k acceptably.

It's because people like to put value in their lives by saying something won't live up to the hype but because nothing since the dawn of time has they will find something that out of the endless spam proves them right and because of this they are better people than the rest of us.

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the Internet!

If you re-read it, insults aren't being traded, I've tried to discuss the monitor but the people who are buying them just want to throw a tantrum and claim anyone who is criticising it are just jealous and can't afford it.

I'm all up for a discussion no problem and I've laid out why I personally don't like TN panels, but just because I don't like them it doesn't preclude me from having an opinion on them in a thread about them. I am interested in technology, and this comes under something new coming out within the technology of monitors.

You've demonstrated it yourself, that you're just expressing why you prefer TN over IPS for games. I use the same PC for work and games, as well as using 3 monitors, as I can't do with one. This is the primary reason I can't do with TN, as the left and right monitors will have visible TN colour shifting on them and will just look awful.

Spoffle I didn't implying you were trading insults, but other are/were . :)

It does seem the price is high compared to the US price, that's a valid complaint, but if demand out strips supply it's not unexpected unfortunately.

I do recall the first IPS 2560x1440 panels costing similar amounts when they first came out and there was a little more competition as well. (People did moan about the price)

Don't know about anyone else but gaming is excellent on my Dell U2713HM 1440p IPS panel, I hate tearing so I stick V-Sync on with pretty much every game and whilst the input lag is noticeable it's really not distracting. I still wreck enemies on FPS online shooters - 3.4 K/D in BF4 and ~2.2 K/D in PlanetSide 2 :D :p

To be honest though, I've never experienced gaming on a 120/144 Hz monitor nor a modern TN panel so I can't comment on whether that's better or not, but for now I am very happy with my high quality 1440p IPS, and I'll most likely wait for 1440p 144Hz IPS displays to upgrade to.
