The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

Well now I know the screen ended up Matte (not my 1st choice) I will see what the guinea pigs get stuck pixel/backlight bleed wise and get 1 from 2nd batch.

It looks grey in one of YT videos but its it really black?

Ugh, I really wnt this but now the 4k gsync screen is down to £499 it really makes the price of this look more and more ridiculous :(

The G-Sync module on its own is said to be £200 (according got TTL that is if it does go on sale as said when launch info 1st appeared).

So take £200 off price and say to yourself is the worlds 1st (not hacked/OC'd) 2560x1440p highest quality TN monitor with 144HZ and 1MS worth that?

Well if the gsync module does indeed cost that much how come 4k monitors without it aren't going for £300? I'm sure I read the module was around £120 not £200 as well.

I suspect the whole selling modules to the public part has passed now. AFAIK it was only in place to serve the initial diy Asus units.

Acer now have 4k & 1080 units for sale at no extra cost to the customer over its non-gsync counterpart. They've set the benchmark now and I expect other manufacturers to follow suit - with the exception of Asus who seem to do as they want.

Trying to drive a 4K display at 60 fps or there abouts is much harder than a 2560*1440 display.

That oc3d 'review' makes the ROG SWIFT look very grey on the black boot up screens.

but... with gsync on a 4K 60hz, you don't have to worry about hitting 60 all the time, that is the point of gsync... and driving 1440p at 144hz, not sure that is any easier than 4K at around 40-60

Yeah, I actually thought that afterwards. 1440p at 120hz or 144hz is probably still going to look better/more fluid over all. Especially if it also has g-sync.

Personally for me the addition of g-sync is not really the most interesting part. The reason for the higher cost is also down to the fact this is the first 1440p res with 120Hz+ refresh rate natively, a response time which should be able to keep up with that (unlike over locked Korean models) and not to mention the additional native blur reduction backlight system. Could be the ultimate gaming screen if it's good!

2560x1440 at 120+FPS will be more demanding than UHD at 60 providing there aren't any memory bandwidth or quantity bottlenecks.

i agree if BenQ or Viewsonic had similar displays on offer then the price would be £100 less or even more

Awesome monitor but im waiting for proper reviews and not that tool, he seems to knows nothing at all, what a clown!
Not that I need any reviews tho as I KNOW I will be getting this whitout a doubt but it's just damn nice to read them annyway :D

Ive been trying to sort one with Asus but so far no luck. I think it might just be a case of there literally being no stock in the uk yet at all, or anywhere for that matter. Maybe soon I will get my hands on one and we can really figure out what it's like :)

have TTL send you his :D

I should have one of these with me before the end of the week. Review to be done as quickly as humanly possible. Keep an eye on @TFTCentral on Twitter for updates as it arrives and as i test various bits :)
