The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

Ah just like G-Sync I have to disable my 2nd screen to get ULMB working right.

120Hz ULMB On 100 Pulse and played some CS, yeah its pretty much like being on a CRT again!
Damn this screen is good

And anyone who thinks ULMB 100 Pulse is dark, it isn't, still getting 120 cd/m2 no problem. Looks just fine!

I can still feel the lasers a little bit but that must just be the strobing, it was really spazing out with my 2nd screen going.

Do you have to toggle between different brightness settings when using ULMB? Like going up from 20-30 all the way to 100 for it to stay bright enough? Is this fast enough to do from the menus?

When you switch on ULMB it has a different profile for brightness and contrast so you can calibrate for both and just switch it on an off.

Very fast to do and no messing about.

Excellent, thanks for all the info! Put one on order from a local dealer, hopefully available next week.

You don't have to disable V-Sync in game though.

If you set your nvidia control panel correctly it does the game settings automatically.

I set to Global G-Sync on and then went into game profiles where I know I can get high FPS and set all sync modes to off.

Didn't have to change anything in game for it to work.

Then can just switch ULMB on and off when in a game not using G-Sync.

Works great :)

I pre-ordered mine early this week and payed the higher price, allthough i missed the forum posts from gibbo about the saturday delivery. Did you guys who got theirs delivered today email him to request the delivery for today, or did the first 50 automaticly get saturday delivery and the email was just for a conformation and i hadn't ordered one early enough? Thanks

Had to email Gibbo to request Saturday Delivery.

I would have thought if you didn't email and were in the first 50 it would have still been sent out yesterday for Monday delivery?

But you still have to individually disable V-SYNC on a per game basis? Whether that's done in the game itself or by using a profile for that specific game it has the same effect. And I don't feel Nvidia makes it clear that you have to do that. 1kiwi for example wasn't aware of that.

To get G-Sync working I didn't have to individually disable V-Sync because when you set it to the global setting it automatically enables it for everything and there is a new sync option for G-Sync that is set for every game.
You then have to go and disable G-Sync, or any kind of sync as there are other types of sync option, if you don't want them to then enable ULMB from the OSD in game.
Although I guess ULMB works with the other sync options but I just set sync to off.

It seems pretty clear on the G-Sync tab in the control panel when you follow the steps.

Ah as long as i know mate cheers, hopefully it might arrive on monday then, working all weekend so wont really miss it haha

Yes pretty much .. why would you use a vblank with G-SYNC .
You just would not use V-SYNC with G-SYNC kind off defeats the object of having G-SYNC .Once you set G-SYNC in the invidia control panel you are done no need to change any thing in game to get this to work .The light on the monitor should change color to show that its being used did you not get a manual with the monitor

This kinder says it all really ,

Q: What are the benefits of G-SYNC over V-SYNC?

A: With V-Sync, the GPU and display are synchronized to the vertical blanking interval where the GPU sends rendered frames to the display on a fixed cadence (60 times per second at 60Hz display refresh). There are two issues for gamers when using V-Sync:

Stuttering since the GPU might render frames at rates other than once every 1/60 sec
Input response is fixed and limited to 1/60 sec

G-SYNC addresses these issues since the display accepts frames as soon as the GPU has rendered them which delivers smoother game play and maximizes input response.

Technical Questions
The monitor LED changes color – what do the different modes mean?
White – normal ‘fast’ gaming (up to 144Hz)
Green –Nvidia Stereoscopic 3D hardware plugged into the PC and 3D Vision enabled
Red – G-Sync enabled
Yellow – Ultra Low Motion Blur
Orange – Standby

How do I enable G-Sync?
It will be automatically enabled by the Nvidia drivers, should a compatible graphics card be already installed. Or, it can be manually enabled via the Nvidia driver control panel under the G-Sync menu option.

If G-Sync menu option isn’t present then please check the installed Nvidia graphics card is compatible (GTX 650 Ti Boost or higher spec) and the drivers are installed correctly.

How do I know if G-Sync is running in game?

The monitor power LED light will turn red indicating G-Sync is on. V-Sync needs to be disabled in the PC game settings and G-Sync enabled in the Nvidia control panel. Then the game must be run in full screen.
Typically scenes that go quickly from high to low frame-rate (or vice-versa) pronounce the G-Sync effect more strongly, allowing the user to notice its inherent effect on game play smoothness.

2) Anyone tried Nvidia Gsync with Skyrim+ENB? That really tanks the FPS

Would love to see this, preferably with a short vid showing the difference.currently am running out of vram at 1440 with 2k textures and enb+enb boost.ave fps dips from 35-55 sometimes even lower in some areas
