The Baja - Progress Thread

A set of rear coilovers are in the back of a delivery truck right now.

If my parents didn't go out Friday, they'd be on now. The rear is going up more.

I may put the tyres I have on the rear, on the front.

Picked up the new tyres.

OOOOf!

Now I need 2 more. ;)

I've spent all day doing it. Fitted new coil overs. They came with a crappy C spanner to raise them up a bit, but its so flimsy I couldn't even tighten them up off the car, let alone with all the weight on them. So that'll have to be a job for later.

Spending most the afternoon with Mr Hickory to make them fit. My right hand side appears to be tighter than the left. I've got plenty of clearance left, but the right is very very close. It drives fine until I hit a bump or turn hard right. This weekend will have to involve some angle grinding to sort that out. :gun:

Anyway here's the pics.

The front is looking a bit more brutal with the fat wheels.

Now I need to find some matching wheels for the front axle.

That thing is just mad lol. I like your door cards :). Think ill enjoy watching this its intresting.

looks good and all but i think i would have to fit a bigger engine looks too small.

That, or cut n' shut the engine cage, that's what makes the engine look so small to my eye. Looks like it's been swapped out. (not that I think it has, just the impression all that space in the cage gives)

It did previously have a larger displacement engine in it. However it wouldn't look much different from the outside. There was a 'stinger' exhaust there which took up more room inside the cage.

I think the cage is wrong too. Should be pretty simple to rectify. May do it while I'm grinding the arches.

On every Baja ive seen (not many) there has always been a lot of room around the cage. I suppose it could be so someone cosld rear end you, crush the cage up a bit, yet not cause any damage or get anywhere near the engine. And also, it allows for bigger and wilder exhausts.

I can understand that. May be an idea to polish up some bits of the engine then, to make it appear larger visually?

I will probably replace the engine eventually. However at the moment its running nicely, which puts it very low down on the list of jobs to do.
