The Banter Thread

Joey Barton banned for 12 games...personally i would have slapped him a season long ban. Guy needs some serious help/therapy for his anger. Looks like Hughes wants to get rid of him and is stripping him of his captaincy according to the link below. Good as football doesnt need players of his sort playing the game...

EDIT: looks like i was beaten to it by a fair few pages lol.

Well there is a thread about Barmby getting the sack. Shame he lost his appeal though, liked him and thought he was easily the best option Hull had

Is there? Must remember to search.

I thought the 'Banter thread' was just somewhere to post news that doesn't fit in to other threads.

Yeah there was one from last month when it all started to go wrong. He wasn't going to win his appeal either way as managers just can't get away with complaining in the press like he did.

On the racist subject, or more specifically how it gets treated differently to other serious problems in the game.

The main PFA guy is out there suggesting contracts have a clause added that players can be sacked if found guilty of racially abusing another player.......... they day after he publically supported Barton for assaulting two players and trying to assault another..... after years of being found guilty of assault on and off the field, in games, in training, and while out drinking.

QPR should have no problem firing him, the PFA shouldn't even remotely support him, and QPR shouldn't be able to be sued for firing him..... I'm saying SHOULD, not can. The reality is if they fire him, he'll sue, and the PFA moron's will support him, because somehow calling someone black, is significantly worse than assaulting several people.

I think racism abhorrent, I think people who think racism is automatically worse than other equally serious, well, crimes, just "because", equally as irksome.

I feel sorry for Torres. Why on earth shouldn't he be allowed to take a penalty, especially after allowing the utterly useless Mata to take one. I even said at the start 'please don't choose Mata' and then what do you know, he does.. and he fails to score. Again. For the third time in a row.

I hope Torres gets his chance next time.

.

I think they should be able to fire him, what he did would amount to gross misconduct in any job

Why would he be allowed to take one? He never takes them in matches, he never took one for us, don't think he took any for Athleti either. The only conceivable reason he wanted to take one now was the fact he wanted to feel like he contributed something to the CL win, because really his goal vs Barca changed nothing.
