Surely telling the Polish/Ukranian fans that he will leave the pitch if he receives racist abuse is more likely to make them want to do it? That's like telling a bully that if they hurt you then you will cry, it will give them exactly what they want..

Yeah, and people are definitely going to be throwing bananas at him too now.

It was going to happen anyway, regardless what he says/said. I really hope players do walk off, tbh... and/or refs have the balls to take players off if there's racist abuse (as it's hard for players to walk off, 'cause they could end up forfeiting, or whatever... so it'd be better if refs could take the lead).

Yeah, if it's quite bad the refs should take them off. It's not something they should have to put up with really.

I just can't believe countries with such racism problems was ever chosen tbh. Way to go UEFA. I hope every single player that receives any racial abuse walks off the pitch and refuses to return.

What I just don't understand is that the top dogs in football are *so* obviously corrupt, I mean Ukraine / Poland, Russia, Qatar, these places are all terrible, non-sensical places to hold football tournaments. I don't understand how they do it so unsubtley and yet still no one says anything or looks in to it. It really is laughable.

Lots of people have said stuff, the problem is the only people with the power to stop the corruption are the top dogs at FiFA, the ones who are right at the centre of the corruption. Blatter won't be removed from his post because he has such a large group of corrupt supporters so until he voluntarily steps down, very litte is going to be done.

So Rodgers to Liverpool and Lambert to Villa, could put both Swansea and Norwich in trouble next season....

Saw an interview with Bernstein the other day, he was giving some very cryptic story about 'contingency plans' for racism and agreements with UEFA and referees relating to what happens in the stadiums, I got the impression he was hinting at games being halted although I find that hard to believe as UEFA won't want to draw attention to any problems like that would.

Lot's of people have said stuff AND it isn't corrupt. Fifa have for over a decade been pushing to have the Euro's and World cup in NEW PLACES. I think it was Cheet's harping on about it being laughable how few tickets England fans could get, as if it was some god given right for England fans to get preference.

In South Africa, it meant a a huge number of fans got to go see an event that they would never have seen if it was only ever held in one of the Germany/England/Brazil/France/etc. World cup, not world according to list of countries English fans find acceptable.

Ukraine might be a fairly racist place, here's a hint, places don't get less racist of they are never shown the idea is wrong.

New countries and new continents(for the world cup) was Fifa's mandate, this was all Fifa ever wanted, ever suggested and has been their mandate for a long time, the ONLY significant corruption that has effected us, is the guys at the FA who spent the best part of 20million on a bid for something that we knew for a fact we wouldn't win. How much did the guys running the bid pay themselves to put said bid together, knowing Fifa were going to pick new countries and new continents?

I don't have a problem with new places per se, it's the fact that Russia and Qatar logistically make no sense. At all.

The Carling Cup will be the Capital One Cup from next season... Liverpool will be fighting to retain the COC *s*******. In serious talk I'll just be calling it the League Cup.
