The Banter Thread

I've been typing furiously for a couple of EFC forums so here is what has been questioned so far and the answers.

Q: "Is Everton for sale?"

A: "Yes 100%, Everton Football Club is for sale"

Q: "What is the asking?" *Collymore talked about this for 4-5 minutes trying to get an answer*

A: "There is no specific price in a prospectus"

Q: "Give me a ballpark figure if it was sold tomorrow"

A: "£125m would be the ball park figure for EFC to be sold".

Q: "Any parties interested now, today?"

A: "Jain Group in India was interested".

Q: "Is there an interested party now? A prospectus gone out?"

A: "Party in the middle East that is interested in EFC right now."

Q: "What is the situation if you can't redevelop Goodison. What is the hear and now to go forward?"

A: "Everton football club do not feel they got enough support from City of Liverpool or council, for redevelopment of Goodison."

Q: "What are ideal scenarios, what is next?"

A: "Groundsharing for Everton and City Council of Liverpool is still a go-er. The preferred option. We believe City of Liverpool doesn't need two stadiums, only party that isn't interested in this is Liverpool Football Club"

Q: "What is happening in the future?"

A: "We can absolutely promise to stay in the City of Liverpool."

Re the groundshare, from what's been proposed by KEIOC and Spirit of Shankly about development of a football quarter, and shared stadium etc it honestly does look like the best situation for both clubs. But Liverpool is a big City big enough for both clubs to have their own stadium, so I don't think it would be the best for both clubs 'brand'.

So... err nothing new?

There's never been an 'official' price put on the club for it to be sold. Or word that it's been put out to buyers, a prospectus gone out or anything like that.

The price has been the biggest thing as it's always thought Kenwright is asking too much, at least £150m.

This is embarrassing. How can 'they' say 5 to 10 years for a new stadium when we've got no money, no ideas and there are not any sites in Liverpool City, hence the Kirby move.

Has any of this actually been confirmed? Is it Collymore just having a guess after talking to the owner?

'cause without confirmation, nothing new has been said.

This is what was said...

Keith Wyness said last year that he thinks Kenwright / Everton would be wanting around £150m for the club. So it seems pretty nailed on that they want well over £100m which is a joke.

The football quarter doesn't require a shared stadium, in fact from SOS's end, they actual mention it working around a redeveloped Anfield.

On the groundshare generally - it's not straight forward. For a start, neither set of supporters want it. But most importantly, who's going to pay for it? If the council were going to pay for it then Liverpool would be interested, they're not though so I suspect that means the clubs would have to pay for it for the most part. Everton can't pay their way so that would leave Liverpool building a stadium and Everton being their tenants. Could you see Everton fans standing for that? And even if they did, Liverpool would have to charge Everton so much (for it to be beneficial to them over a redeveloped Anfield) that there'll be very little benefit to Everton.

Purslow's involved in the sale of Everton? :o

edit: who's that with Stan? He just praised Hicks & Gillett for doing the right thing by selling to FSG. Does he not realise that they done everything possible so that the club wasn't sold to them and in the end they had no say in the matter?

Yep that's what it sounded like with what he said then. Definitely sounds like it's Christian Purslow.

The Fernando Torres of finance. He's decisions cost Liverpool an absolute fortune.

edit: and for those that are interested but might not know. Purslow was initially brought into find investment into Liverpool to reduce our debts - he failed to do it. Martin Broughton was then brought in and given total control to sell the club and for some reason Purslow took it upon himself to play god at the club. Of the 2 acceptable bids for the club that were finally brought to the table, he was responsible for neither (Ayre found Peter Lim and FSG were found by Broughton). Purslow's contribution to the club was to sack Benitez (cost £6m + more for his staff), hire Hodgson (cost us £3m) and then decide to sign Joe Cole on a £20m+ contract. We also had to pay to correct his mistakes too.

Thinking about it, it's probably just Tyrrell. He was at Liverpool during the H&G sale wasn't he? And Stan mentioned City before and he was at City when they were bought by both Shinawatra and Sheikh Mansour. So probably him... doesn't surprise me really.

Maybe. Just done a quick google and he only joined a few months before the sale went through. For your sake, hope it's not Purslow.

edit: and hahahaha @ that caller :D

Hahaha... can't believe he didn't clock onto that quicker. RAWK will have sides splitting right now. :D
