The Battlefield 4 Thread 2015

He joined us on TS and I played in his squad for a while. I wasn't quite sure if he was genuine or had been on the receiving end of the OcUK tank shell courier service and thought he'd find us on TS talking about hacks or something.

My game gets stuttery as hell if I have an open ended FPS.

Also, just been messing with graphics and I get crap stutter if I use 144hz mode on my AMD card.

If I go back to 120hz with vsync on - it's a lot smoother.

I remember reading somewhere that AMD cards are better suited to 120hz over 144. Not sure how true that is, but my experiences with messing with settings pretty much backs that up.

Wow that's awesome! I'm glad it explained the adaptive vs freesync vs gsync as many people don't understand that.

Personally after a lot of testing I prefer GSYNC to ULMB (motion blur reduction) which allow me to run higher framerates. GSYNC is far superior to ULMB in my opinion but I may give it a go this week once I have the 980Ti in to see if I perfer it. The game is much faster than it was over 6 months ago so I may chance my mind.

@Nexus, maybe it's time for an upgrade mate!

Time to get nvidia and GSYNC buffet. I've still not told the wife about my purchases this week!

If I ever have enough money that I am happy enough to lose my testicles for in order to spend it, I may do :)

Until then I will continue to have a healthy respect for the fact there are sharp knives in the house and that my wife does not like gaming. :D

EDIT - Smrtka - what settings are you using on AMD?

pfffffffffft! I have played with 59 FPS cap and vsync on and it didn't stop me from being MVP with a k/d of 5+ :p

a good workman never blames his tools

:D

When it comes to input lag/responsiveness, I can't tell the difference between no FPS cap (FPS up to 200), FPS cap of 90, 60 and 125. I find a 125FPS cap to be the best for smoothness and less noticeable when it comes to screen tearing.

Waiting on the 34" 3440x1440 75/100HZ free/g sync screens. 144hz doesn't appeal to me in the slightest when it comes to input lag.

I guess aimbots don't differentiate between refresh rates ;)

nexus-bot V5 only £20 a month ;) :p

The main difference really isn't input lag, rather frame smoothness and motion blur or lack thereof on 144Hz compared to 60Hz is night and day...scrub

Yup, that is the only appeal of 144hz for me, motion clarity. There are numerous ways that this can be improved other than just a higher refresh rate though. But yeah current 60HZ IPS/VA screens suck for motion, hoping that the upcoming 75/100HZ 34" screens are better...

Horses for courses as they say. Don#t waste your time trying to find a monitor that has perfect IQ and the best motion clarity.
