The Battlefield 4 Thread 2015

Yeah temps have never been over 58C all night which is very nice.

Running Full Ultra (minus MSAA) tonight and never dipped below 135.

Chuffed. Sidey mentioned a bug which 144hz which makes the temps higher at idle.

At 144hz the idle is around 35C, at 120hz it's under 30C and at 60hz its 23C.

Very odd, something I need to look into.

I love them spamming gunners who get in tank then bail and leg it. Damn my ears are still ringing from the constant sound of MG spam! I demand a james bond eject seat button for unwanted tank gunners
I can just see me using it now. ejecting noobs like fanatic and nexus into a enemy heli's above!

You got 2 screens? If so your GPU won't downclock as it would on 60/120Hz hence my desktop is 120Hz and when I launch CSGO the refresh rate goes to 144Hz due to launch options. Best way to be economical yet have the eprf I want.

Yes bud, had never heard of before yesterday. I've set it to 120hz now, the Gsync should still make it playabale.

How do you set launch options for it to change hz then? That could be useful.

Set you main refresh as 120 Josh and then within specific game settings select highest refresh rate. You can also use these settings to switch between GSYNC, Fixed Refresh and ULMB

135fps, pretty nice. Only had a few quick rounds using the 980ti. Built a new system but cant get on to play as I'm waiting on a few parts. Iirc this is a double XP weekend too.:(

To be honest I could push my settings more using res scale but with 2560x1440 it's a really good looking game. The 980ti really comes into its own when I'm playing more demanding games like GTA5

I'm pondering a monitor upgrade. Either 2560x1440 or 4k. Ideally with gsync in either case. Though the choice at 4k is limited. Did try bf4 with a higher res using dsr. But that was when I had the sli 780 setup.

Never really got on with 4K for FPS games personally - having a ~40" 4K display for racing games, etc. is pretty immense but I found 2560x1440 with gsync the sweet spot for stuff like BF4.

4k is over rated IMO, only useful for when it comes to monitors of >28" IMO. I would go with 27" 1440 IPS 120+ g/free sync every day of the week. 4k will still be a struggle to run games at Max settings with mostly 60fps too even with a single 980ti, you would need 2

If you can hold on longer though, we should hopefully see more sensibly priced 34" 1440 21.9 g/free sync screens, that 980ti will be the sweet spot for 3440x1440 and 21.9 is far more beneficial than 4k imo

Thing with 4k too I guess is the gpu horsepower required to run it at decent settings. I suspect you would likely need sli/xfire with current cards.

Averaged about 43fps on my current card running BF4 with full ultra setting except no MSAA at 4K on a 64bit CQ large server. Most of the time it was "playable" but there was some bits where it dropped back to ~26-28fps which wasn't really very playable.

This to be honest. Either the SWIFT or the new 160hz ROG IPS coming out! Expensive but getting the SWIFT on release was one of the best purchases I've made in years! It would be ice to see another version of the SWIFT (TN Panel) with 160hz. The thing that worries me about IPS is that it's still 4ms GTG vs 1ms GTG TN panel.
