The Battlefield 4 Thread 2015

Good, Have you been taking tips from BvB then?

It's BF1 next Friday so anyone up for a last Friday night BF4 smash?

Next thursday if you use the origin access thing for 10 hours. If not its the 17th.

Hopefully they have addressed my main complaints with it and the maps are superb, if not, I'll just have to stick with bf 4 every now and then :(

Surprised you've managed to stick with it this long considering the amount of stupid bugs still in the game they've still not managed to fix. Don't you love it when you stop to fire in a tank and your view suddenly starts to judder for no reason? That's a real doozy.

Some people seem to suffer the bugs much more than others for some reason.

They still haven't tweaked a lot of things as well i.e. grenade hitboxes either :(

Not noticed that issue unless I am half way on a curb/wall or a whole in the ground etc. or the server is laggy.

Can't say I have had any real serious issues with bf 4 once they sorted it out after 6 months.

The only problem I ever encounter on a daily basis is dusting on aircraft and invisible walls/textures.

Goldmud railway is still a laugh with the way it loads in, if you join a game in progress things just sort of randomly spawn in, takes about 15 seconds or thereabouts. Firing missiles in jets or the aa a lot of the time the firing sound is delayed by around 5 or so seconds, sometimes it starts to randomly repeat as well. Missiles can miss aircraft but still register as hit's, you can still see your shots impacting on vehicles but no damage is done (nothing more irritating when you hit a heli with a tank shell and it says nope and continues on). Tanks randomly sliding around on incredibly slight grass inclines like you're sitting on ice.

Just last night i shot a plane down with a tank, next thing i know my tank does a backflip, lands on its turret and explodes. It wasn't the plane ramming me either as it was nowhere near me when i shot it down. I really wish i had shadowplay running for that as both me and the mg gunner typed in "wtf" simultaneously.

This. I would say for the last year it's been issue free for me. The only time I really raged was up until the first or second CTE patch where they patched in higher tick rates and fixed allot of critical bugs.

Have you brought BF1 Nex? I'm thinking about it - but I wasn't 'hooked' enough in the beta or alpha to really want to spend the cash. I'm worried it will be like starwars where everyone says it's awesome but then after two months is onto something else.

I think the bf1 will end up exactly that way....

Nope.

Alpha and beta did nothing for me and likewise I am also concerned about the longevity.

If they have fixed the gun mechanics and the maps are superb with the game playing well i.e. not buggy then I might get it...

I'm not so sure BF1 will die so quickly. It may not be as popular as BF3 and 4 were though.

SWBF was fundamentally flawed for those of us expecting a BF game with a starwars skin.

-It was easier to play in 3rd person
-You just could not squad up with more than one person
-Maps were unbalanced for conquest style gameplay
-Heros were completely OP
-Vehicle assets spawning randomly on the battlefield

BF1 is much more like BF4 with respect to the above. Sure there are "heros", but apart from the cavalry (when on foot), they weren't that bad. Remember we had various OP weapon pickups in BF4 as well (God sniper, m32 mgl, SAIGA with frags).

I think there's a chance that rush will be playable again if they limit the vehicle assets, and for conquest they've already conceded that kills matter in an FPS game.

As marbleduck alluded to in one of his vids, the weapon customisation may be limited, but it is better to have 3 viable useful loadout options than 128 permutations for any gun of which only a handful are really viable.

The shooting mechanics are fine IMO. They're trying to make each weapon class excel at it's optimal engagement range. There's some tweaking to do, but it's not fundamentally broken.

I get that kind of thing quite bad but people don't understand why I complain about "netcode", etc. for some reason it seems to hardly happen to some people while happening quite a lot to others.

1 in ~19 times when I fire a TV missile from the attack chopper it will blow up the attack chopper killing me and ejecting the pilot instead of damaging the target it just hit :( even after they supposedly "fixed" it.

I got no problems with "elites", however, I can't stand the extra armour/health that they get, they are already getting good guns so why give them even more advantages... The only one who deserves to have more health/armour is the LMG guy.

I can see what they are trying to achieve with the new gun mechanics but no matter how they try to spin it, adding random deviation to your first shot fired along with holding LMB for more accurate fire over time is not the way to do it and as a result this is one reason why so many played as scout, sniper rifles aren't affected by this and you are more likely to outgun every other class as long as your aim is decent (just have to see the likes of xfactor doing a 180 no scope on assault players that are only a few feet away...), they need to increase the bullet velocity big time for sniper rifles.

Overall, everything about infy play just felt like playing star wars battlefront in first person mode imo, the way you run, the speed of ADS'ing etc. etc.

Vehicles I am not really bothered on as I was/am wanting to go back to more infy play but it ****es me of seeing how much they have ruined air combat now, just too arcadey, they might as well have added a button which does a barrel roll etc. for you.

And lastly the alpha and beta map didn't impress me either so they need to make the others damn impressive.

Yeah regardless of the BS justifications of some people - its a completely retarded way to implement gun mechanics and certainly is a big reason I'm not going to buy the game.

Like DOD:Source they seem to be trying to equalise skill levels somewhat with the gun mechanics which ultimately makes the game pretty unsatisfactory for anyone to play who has progressed beyond hapless pray and spray.
