*** The BBC F1 2012 Coverage Thread ***

I still think the commentary from Sky is better, but the pre/post show stuff seems to be getting worse. I actually didn't bother watching any of it last Sunday, which is a first for me in all the years I've watched F1.

I had a smile on my face on the BBC Forum when they were allowed past the security barrier on the RB Energy Station, and the look of shock on the Sky presenters faces who were in the scrum with the rest of the media.

It's all very well Sky having a total of 1hr more coverage than the BBC but if you have nothing to say it gets a little tedious. Lazenby often seems a bit lost for words. I do wonder if he stops to listen to what's being said in his ear and that makes his presentation a bit less flowing. He might be up for the chop after his Princess Grace car crash jibe though.

Sky clearly don't have much pit lane cachet yet either for getting in to places but no doubt that will come. Let's not forget they've only done 6 programmes so far.

I liked how the BBC coverage for Monaco was full of little digs at Sky.

Some of the ones I noticed:

- The BBC cameraman was focused on the Sky team in the distance, and the BBC guys said "we're over here!"

- EJ explaining that everyone likes Lee McKenzie and drivers often come to her first for their interview.

- EJ getting the team into the RBR pool area saying "come on, make an exception for the BBC!" and it worked.

It's surprising how well EJ has fitted into the team. At first everyone was thinking "what's he going to say next that is controversial or inappropriate" but it's turned on the complete opposite! He has very high standards, right down to turning his Marussia jacket inside out to keep BBC's honour.

i was under the impression they walked around the fencing in a circle but i guess some people will believe everything EJ says

No idea why the BBC would need to take digs at Sky, the BBC are the reason Sky is there. But really it all fits in with the "top gear" scripted shows they are delivering.

Yeah, liking her is one thing although Rosberg seemed a bit unenthusiastic after Sunday.

Like you say they walk around in some sort of order, home broadcasters probably get first pickings at their own races.

BBC Radio 5 live coverage

Lee McKenzie will be the main presenter for Canada, Valencia, Germany and Hungary while Matey Jake is off presenting the Beeb's (dire) Jubilee coverage and the Olympics.

Hopefully they go better than Japan 2010 did, but that wasn't her fault.

With the right lipstick and a colourful dress Georgie would be perfect.

She just has a tendency to wear all-beige and comes across plain. Have you actually looked at Lee McKenzie? :/

Quite enjoyed that short bit of Lee McKenzie. Will be interesting to see how she does tomorrow, shame it's not a full live one though. Also would be nice to see her deal with Eddie :p
