The BenQ EW2420: Too good to be true?

The replacement could be a new screen - but if you're not sure...

I did say acting under DSR would be quicker - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=17682898&postcount=158.

It isn't too late to do so - just say you are not happy with the unit and quote the specific paragraphs we referred to a few posts above. By law, they are required to give you a refund. You will have to cover the postage costs but I'd advise this as the quickest route by the sounds of things.

I did actually quote you at first
and ive now done as you said telling them im not happy with the screen and would like to return for a full refund

ill await there reply

Well I wish you luck. It is annoying when companies don't conform as you would expect (usually because the customer support agents aren't fully aware of the customers' rights) but you do have the law on your side. It's always important in the end. Make sure you keep a record of all contact you've made (as I'm sure you are) and I think you'll be fine. I am sorry that you had these problems with your unit in the first place, though - I know how frustrating it can be.

Thanks ever so much for your help

its kinda put me of the benq im thinking now to get the money together for the dell

THE DOC, is the issue you have with your screen similar to what this user had (it's the VW2420H in the photos, but it uses the same panel as the EW2420)?

It looks a bit better in the 2nd link, so maybe he managed to tweak it so it was half reasonable. However in the first link, the contrast is completely blown out. Also the viewing angles seem particularly bad considering it's a VA panel, especially since it's apparently meant to be like this.

Yes Yes very much so ive got it to look better than the first set but its not as good as the second somewhere in between for me

but thats it possibly more blue er than his also

its like its washed out and no matter what i cant get it to go clearer as in the contrast

its hard to explain

actually if you look at the first set and the very first image its kinda like that maybe not quite as bad

His looked like that because he was using a strange splitter cable. You are using a straight DVI cable, right? Have you tried it under VGA? I'm sure that isn't the problem but it's best to eliminate all possibilities. I have mine connected using DVI no problems but have you tried different cables anyway?

ive tried an hdmi also
but that didnt work
id need to look for an dvi-vga cable but its the same wire i had connected to my dell and the hanns-G and they worked fine

Yeah, I've read that post (and pretty much everything else anyone has mentioned on the monitor/panel), but I still can't get a feel of how much ghosting there is.

When I get mine delivered this week I'll record some footage dragging windows around, some call of duty, counterstrike and some blueray stuff.
Will clone the monitor with my TN panel next to it so you can compare.

Very interested in getting this monitor ... Does anyone know what sort of aspect ratio control it supports? What would this monitor do with 4:3 content? Would it just fill or would it attempt to interpolate? This is very important to me as I have played CS1.6 for yonks on a 4:3 aspect ratio and I don't want to change!

Honestly it's fine, i was playing resident evil 5 last night and it looks great so much depth to everything it almost feels like your halfway bewtween 2d and 3d.

i have a 50 inch panny plasma in the front room and i'd sooner play all my games on this monitor anytime.

i have my dads cannon dslr 400D with me so if anyone wants me to take some pics then just tell me what settings to use and i'll do it for you.
