***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

Went on for another blast, performance graph enabled. Much much lower spiking but the server was a bit laggy. Only choices are in usa or holland so i suspect theyre being overloaded. Op lockers, max settings at 1920x1200, stock gtx 780, 4770k @4.5ghz.

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
49756, 600000, 32, 134, 82.927

Re: Servers this is at the top of the CTE battlelog:

SERVERS GETTING A RESTART TO CHECK FOR LEAKS ETC, PLEASE COMPARE BEFORE & AFTER

Perhaps the bulk of them are down for testing.

She couldn't feel a thing apparently. Though i don't mind using Rustys potent two incher to get her warmed up for me.

LOL. You never disappoint, I hope.

OK to get SLI working in CTE:

Open Nvidia Inspector, scroll down to the BF4 profile. Click 'add application to current profile' and scroll and find the BF4CTE.exe (or bf4ctex86 if on 32bit). Click apply and it fires right up.

Game appears to run quite poorly (both with and without SLI). Feels rough, hit regs still poor. As is worse then the current game but will try other servers to make sure. Frame times running in around 10ms over SLI.

I got spike also.

Matt I managed to capture the erratic GPU line thing at 200fps I'll stick a screeny up shortly.

Edit:

Has no effect on performance however.

Will have another blast tonight, was a bit rough last night. You running sli Greg?

Re high frames, its just the natural thing for me to do (unlimited frame rate) in fps games due to the reason shankly mentioned. Remove excess input lag is another. Play some twitch shooters, every frame counts :D

Perhaps (and likely) mantle is just rendering frames far more efficiently with vsync then DX, maybe mantle doesn't throw away as many or any frames with vsync.

Vsync input lag (I think) is down to how vsync will delay a frame to suit the fps and refresh, if a frame is delayed what's happening on screen vs your input generates lag. It could be mantle is more efficient in delaying frames.

Almost like a completely different game tonight on the CTE. Hit regs are better (still not perfect but better then any previous) and overall the game just runs soooo smooth its crazy. Frame times in SLI are down to around 6ms, held a steady 170-200fps in both golmud and flood.

Damn, pings been quite good for me lately, hovers around 30ms on the majority of European servers.

The hit regs have changed enough for me to have to get a better aim, firing in their general direction no longer registers, HAS to hit them rather then near them.

Why couldn't they have just ran a CTE through alpha and beta testing? Still can't get my head around beta testing a game thats been out for retail release for 8 months.

Hit regs were a bit off last night on cte, shots were registering as hits at my end but not on the enemies. I registered 7 lmg hits on one guy who turned around and shot me, he still had 77 health - go figure.

The smoothness is immediately noticeable though, no more spikes, high frame rates and low frame times. Its getting there, 8 months later and the beta version is almost perfect :p

Oh I know, mg4+metro+HC= An easy 20,000 xp per round :D

It has the added benefit of wiping out team mates who think its a great idea to stand in front of someone firing or laid down in a doorway :p

Forgot how bad the start up weapons are, thankfully just unlocked the 88 on cte. No hardcore on cte yet though.

I think we should have a consistent BF4 Benchmark method.

Agree / Disagree?

While I agree, I think everyone else (my self included) have found that the amount of variables make it near impossible to get anything close to consistent.

Play a round running fraps and perfoverlay.fileframeenable 1 and batch collective results with fraps averages, bf4 frame time analyser for minimums and fla calc for frame times. I say all 3 as collectively they are excellent in showing certain things. Obviously it helps to state clock speeds, server size and density too as frame rates change drastically from map to map, shanghai may only give averages of 140 while locker may give 200 etc...

Its more performance gauging then anything else :)

You can also use the BF4 frame time analyser (available via OCN) to give you a better idea of minimums. As a fraps read out may say that minimum frame was say 10fps, this tool will give you a percentage of how long was spent below a certain FPS to get a true idea of in game minimums like so:

bf430fps.jpg

It shows minimums of 30fps, yet spent enough time over that for it to be classed as rogue. Looking at the percentages, realistic minimums are more somewhere between 100-120fps as this is where the percentages start to show more frequent drops :)

Edit: Above reading was over a healthy 300,000+ frames from a lengthy 64 player conquest battle on flood CTE.

The left hand column is your frame rate, the other 2 (I think) are the CPU and GPU I dividual frame rate, but not entirely sure what it means :p

But as you can see with your results, minimum of 52 yet spent 100% above that mark, your true minimum is somewhere between 120-144 as the percentage starts to drop a little over 144 - not by much though, mantle I presume? As one of it's selling points was more consistent frame rates with higher minimums which it shows.

Edit: its frame time calculates frame rates.
