*** The BIG Christmas Competition *** Win the best Christmas ever!!

I dont think its a problem what he does with the items. In all honesty I wouldnt be interested in some of the items, a webcam? fan controller? laptop bag? Some would go on the bay.

Yeah, I have no problem if he sells some of the items that he doesn't need or preferably give them to a family member/friend who might be need/want it. I wouldn't need everything there either, however instead of selling the prizes on the auction site, I would give it to family members/friends which are big PC enthusiasts as well and if they didn't need it or want it then I would give them away to people here who are loyal forum members and allocate the prizes to the people who need it the most or want it the most, not the ones that are members for like 3 years and only 5 posts........

And tbph the thought of it does irritate me and I am sure that some other loyal forum members here will agree, knowing that those items could have gone to someone that needed them more and was actually going to use them instead.

We run far more competitions on the forum which are only open to forum members than we do anywhere else!

We always ensure that our loyal customers and forum members have lots of competitions available which are especially for them, but occasionally, yes, our aim is to attract new business too, we are a business after all.

I think the balance of competitions we do is probably 80% in favour of our forums as we recognise what a valuable part you guys place in our success!

For the record the person who won is actually also a repeat customer with us.

I think he means, the more loyal forum members that have been here for more than a month and more than 100 or so posts and not having forum members that have never even posted or having very few posts in a few months+ not being allowed to enter.

However since this competition was posted on the main front page banner and didn't state just for forum members, then it is open to everyone.

And good to hear that Phil shops at OCUK, it is a good sign that it is someone who is a PC enthusiast :), as most average Joe people who aren't fussed on PCs have probably never heard of this place and only do their shopping at a well known website for general stuff.

Prizes should have been spread out to more than just 1 Winner, With all those prizes its a little silly for them all to go to one person.

You should have have at least 5 winners.

No it isn't. No harm in having one big prize. I don't suppose you like the >£20k prize on the gadget show then.

Tbh if i had won I would have sold it all. There is nothing there I really wanted or needed but it would have helped pay for things I do want.

Its funny people saying "Too many prizes for one person" or "He should give them away if hes not going to use it". End of the day he won them fair and square. I see no problem whatsoever in whatever he chooses to do.

I think it would have been different if you had of won yourself.

God what is it with some people these days if they had won you can bet they wouldn't have moaned about one person winning it all but when they lose a little compy they go all "it's not fair blah blah blah".

Why? The competition was:

"Win the best christmas ever."

Not, Win the 'meh'est christmas ever.

I have 15 razor blades to give away to the sorest losers to slit their emo wrists with, just quote...

"I'm a sore loser and that Phil is a right *******, killing myself is the only option"

... Merry Xmas every one and good luck!
:D

Shame to see it not go to a forum member. I would argue that keeping people on the forum also promotes them to buy here, considering the fact that you didn't have to buy anything to enter in the competition, it probably didn't actually cause many extra people who entered to buy here in the first place as there is a good chance they already knew of overclockers anyway, if they didn't they probably have no interest in pc components.

If you make people join the forum they are asking advice and getting links to OCUK products from answers to their questions. They will also see all the deals on offer through the news forum.

That is of course my opinion. I next expected to win, just would rather support the community we have built up rather than some randomer who stalks deal websites and has no interest in OCUK anyway.

MumboJumbo, where have you been, since competition this we have done 3 competitions just for forum members. We are doing competitions all the time, for everyone. Not everyone can win a competition unfortunately, as it would be nice for everyone to win the prizes. But we are doing as many competitions as possible so more people have a chance of winning. :)

We do competitions for everyone, just the forum, just Facebook, just Twitter, just Steam. - And we have a hell of a lot more competitions on the way, and we have some competitions running now!

There should be a competitions thread/forum where all the competitions can be listed. It would make it much easier to see what competitions OcUK are running. More people would probably enter.
