According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, via WrestleZone.com, negotiations between Chris Jericho and the WWE are at a slight impasse.

The reason being is that Jericho is seeking a more lucrative contract than the company—particularly Vince McMahon—is willing to offer him. From the WWE chairman's point of view, the promotional power of the organization, more so than Y2J himself, made the first-ever undisputed champion the superstar he is today.
Consequently, McMahon is of the position that if Jericho were to pursue outside endeavors, the WWE is entitled to a cut of his profits. Essentially, McMahon's logic is such that the Winnipeg-native would not have a branded image to capitalize on if it weren't for the WWE platform.
Certainly, such a negotiating ploy by the WWE head honcho is disputable, considering the truth is probably somewhere in the middle—a successful partnership between an individual and his employer is usually 50/50.
Throwing another wrench in the talks is that several of the extracurricular ventures Jericho has been involved with—notably Dancing with the Stars and Downfall—have ruffled some feathers.
Specifically, NBC Universal executives, who lavishly pay for WWE programming (i.e., Raw and SmackDown) to air on their family of stations, feel betrayed by Jericho for taking his talents to ABC, for instance.
Despite the roadblocks, however, Vince McMahon remains confident that a deal will be reached in time to justify the "It Begins" viral marketing used to herald Y2J's third reintroduction to the WWE Universe
