The Big WWE Wrestling Thread

That's the one problem i have with Miz promo's, i simply don't believe him. He can get all angsty and in people's faces all he wants, just doesn't sound natural.

Someone on Reddit posted their design for a new US Title based on the IC title design. It's beautiful.

Wonder if wwe could find somewhere else to stick led's, seeing as now even the ringposts have them. Only a matter of time before the ropes have them as well. The ringpost camera gimmick didn't seem to last long, they had them for about a year and used them a handful of times at most.

Not if you are Vince Russo!...The more time passes, the more out of touch that guy is.

I thought it was great Owens got the the belt, I'm a fan of his, but it is being a little devalued in my eyes, though that isn't really their fault. Roman drops the belt, ambrose goes to smackdown, Balor wins a tournament out of nowhere then has to immediately vacate it then Owens wins because of interference. A big deal is being made of it, but I doubt he will hold it for long tbh.

The triple H angle could be interesting going forward.

Ok, so I just found out that ChikaraPro have their own streaming service up and running, and I have to wholeheartedly recommend it.

But first, what is Chikara? Obviously, it's wrestling, but unlike most of the promotions where everything is rather serious, Chikara is much more light hearted.
and in honour of smackdown:

But they also put out amazing matches even with the silliness mixed in, for example:

There's lots more matches available for free on their youtube channel, and you can check out their Journey into Chikara.

Important things to know about Chikara? They take a lot of their rules from lucha, you get a 20 count outside the ring, and leaving the ring and touching the floor counts as a tag in tag matches, which makes them much faster paced. They use Technico and Rudo instead of Face and Heel.

What names will you recognise? Of the current roster, if you don't keep up on the indie scene, probably not many. But past starts include the likes of El Generico (Zayne), Claudio Castagnoli (Cesaro), Brodie Lee (Harper), Gargano and Ciampa, and Colt Cabana.

You can get a 7 day trial for free of the streaming service, it has everything from 2005 onwards, as well as some shows from before that. You can jump in at any point, either sticking with the recent stuff and catching up through commentary (there's a 30 day delay between shows being available to buy and hitting Chikaratopia), or go to any point in the history. If you don't want to go right to the start, Season 8 is a great jumping on point.

We now take you back to your regularly scheduled WWE programming. :D

OK...

Just watched Takeover, Summerslam and the subsequent RAW and Smackdown shows.

I have to say, I am impressed. First off, this is the first since I can remember I have actually been looking forward to both a RAW and Smackdown.

Takeover was on point as expected (Not better than last years effort but still a good show) and Summerslam offered some great stuff. AJ with back to back wins over Cena with the second being clean, honestly, I **** my pants when the ref counted the trois on that one.

Both RAW and Smackdown were watchable for two weeks straight without having to use fast forward, when was the last time that happened?

To be honest, I was only watching Smackdown because of AJ Styles but it got me hooked.

Something has definitely changed from my view with the way both shows are being booked to previous years.

Less fluff and more wrestling and using "ring time" to begin/promote feuds.

It has me interested in PRO Wrestling again. Sure, WWE is not by itself "PRO Wrestling" but it is (like it or not) the pinnacle of the sport and they have a responsibility and if WWE is doing well, the business as a whole does better, if WWE product is doing good business, attendances across smaller promotions also increase which is only a good thing.

Regarding AJ Styles, it is great to see him get "over" with the mainstream WWE crowd.

From what I have seen, it looks like he is doing the Kurt Angle "Goof" gimmick to help get "over" with the masses. Few people can pull this off without looking like an idiot but those two have that much core talent, I think most accept the goofiness knowing they can back it up whenever they like.

Kurt and AJ had some great matches in TNA so if Kurt does come back for a WWE run, I would love to see AJ VS Kurt.

One negative in my book, Universal Champion? What kind of ******* name is that for a title?
