HUGE moment with Punk coming out to that crowd.

Gotta say, though, as someone who watched no wrestling at all during Punk's time in WWE (so has no emotional attachment to it): his entrance song might be iconic, but it's ******* terrible! Just awful butt-rock **** :D

I watched this one just to see CM come back. AEWs sound is terrible, they need to sort the music to a semi feed for some direct sound, and the falls on the mat make no sound of any impact at all. Everyone's intro music sounded awful.
Have to say AEW just straight up showing punk at the start shows they are better. If it was WWE they would have dragged it out till the end of a 3 hour show.
Did laugh at Mox though, guess he found a tub of Dbol to munch down on lol.

Nah- they deliberately opt for a mix where you hear the crowd instead of the music: they have super hot crowds generally (not quite CM Punk debut level, but still big walls of sound), so they make the most of it.

Thats I said a audio out mix, they can scale the actual track playing to the broadcast and not have a mess of reverb from the studio mics trying to pic up the sound. You dont cut out the crowds at all, you simple mix the wired audio directly in.
 
Punk teasing Adam Cole coming to AEW.

Cole, of course, becoming a free agent after WWE forgot that his contract ended in June (they were leaving negotiations until later, thinking in error that his contract ran until December). He extended a short term deal until Summerslam weekend to wrap up storylines.

His partner, Britt Baker, and his history as being part of The Elite mean it would be a shock if he re-sign with WWE.

CM Punk's return to the ring tonight at AEW's All Out pay per view!

We're also very likely to see the "surprise" debut appearance of Bryan Danielson (fka Daniel Bryan). It'll be interesting to see where they slot him in. Probably in with the Kenny Omega storyline, but could also be with Punk or Moxley.


Annoying it being on a Sunday night, usually AEW PPVs are Saturdays. I'll be trying to resist spoilers during work and watching Monday night.

Predictions:
Battle Royale: Ruby Soho (fka Riott) will be the joker and will win.
Paul Wight (Big Show) beats QT (or his stand-in)
Britt beats Krys
Miro beats Kingston, with a surprise debut appearance from Miro's flexible wife CJ (fka Lana)
Lucha Bros beat the Bucks for the tag titles
Punk beats Darby
Mox beats Kojima
Kenny beats Christian

I was kinda disappointed with that, tbh. He's been ******* amazing as champion there.

the whole "GCW universe" and spinner belt and "ECW original" shtick was brilliant heel work in a promotion like GCW.

I did, though, hear him on Jericho's podcast saying the success had taken him and GCW a bit by surprise, and it was difficult to find dates where he was available to appear. He's basically booked up until Xmas.

Mox-Gage should be quite something, in any case.

He's a punk, the music is butt-rock. It's a total ketchup-on-icecream mess.

Clearly, though, I'm wrong and I accept that: everyone loves it for him. I just think it's **** :p
 
You could give me 9 Punjabi prison matches and 1 Lucha bros / young bucks match and I would still give this a 5* PPV. What a match, and what a PPV.

Yeah, I couldn't believe how hot it was for the first 4 matches. They each got progressively better too (imo). I loved the cage match, but thought Britt's match was up there as perhaps the best women's match they've had (outside of that legendary 'lights out' match between her and Rosa)

I stopped watching live after the Battle Royal (which was alright, but they're always a bit messy. Loved the joker, and the reaction she got)

Some of the later matches were a little slower than I like, but were very very good. The end of the show was incredible!

I've not watched Big Show yet. Skipped it as I was keen to get through the rest and start reading the reports and analysis.

I would totally be on board for this. That cage match just utterly out of this world.

All Out 2021 in general has to go down as one of the best PPV performances ever. So many literally jaw dropping moments for me from the surprise entrances to the matches themselves, 4 hours felt like nothing. Easily my show of the year from any promotion and they didn't even have Andrade/PAC which was going to be up there with Lucha Bros/Bucks for me.
 
Only downer for me was probably Paul White, his legs look shot :(. Hope that was a one and done for the sake of his health at this point.

Women's battle royale was a bit clumsy in places (the format they use probably doesn't help) but served its purpose.

The rest was just end to end hype and it was glorious.

Getting a little worried for roster bloat and too many "refugees" (though with WWE talent hording the last few years pretty much everyone is one now) but they are mostly picking up the right ones so far so not going "full TNA" and hopefully they never will. Their working arrangements with other promotions can help mitigate that I guess.
 
Agreed on Wight/QT. It would have been home on the Buy-In or much, much earlier in the show but placing it between two titanic matches seemed. Gave people time to sort themselves out between matches I guess though!

The battle royales always have that feel to them. Riho getting rolled out and 'eliminated' is an odd one. I haven't seen anything so I hope she was okay. Otherwise it was grand and seeing Soho/Rosa go at it was fantastic. I'm hoping for some more good stuff from both of them.

The bloat is definitely becoming real but I don't think it's at a point where it's gonna unbalance them, not yet at least. With the addition of Rampage and Dark going longer. I'm hoping it means that talent can be rotated out more often too and recover/spend time with family. It means stories can be told and then new blood added consistently over time. The addition of Cole was a late game changer and the moment was originally setup for Danielson but they handled it well in the end and made possibly the most over ending to a PPV in recent memory.

My wrasslin' friendgroup only picked up on the fact we hadn't discussed Punk's match several hours after watching the PPV(and the cage match for a second time).

Mox getting a shot at Suzuki has been high on my list since the forbidden door came down and I'll be tuning in very keenly on Wednesday.

I don't get the Young Bucks. Their matches are the same thing over and over. Pretty much constant high spots and little to no believability that you're watching a real fight/contest/battle.

I'll give them credit for the balls they've got and the innovation they've brought as a a tag-team but sometimes you just need to learn to slow down and sell a little bit.

This is such a lazy Bucks take, that gets pushed out so often. They're absolute masters of tag wrestling and the cage match last weekend had very few high spots, and was heralded as perhaps the greatest cage match of all time by people with much more cagematch knowledge than I.
