The Callisto Protocol

its still not 100% there is still stutter from time to time. I think they solved the shader comile issue. but there still stands the single threaded issues ect.

I've now watched the full DF tech review of the game, not just the PC section I watched yesterday. It's clear that the game has incredible level design, detail and atmosphere and that ray tracing plays a large part in that for shadows and reflections, but most importantly the ray traced transmissions option which gives skin and flesh transparent translucency making it look like real flesh from rendered CGI. I know many folks don't care much for ray tracing but games like this and Cyberpunk and others it really makes a difference and I value those enhancements, which DF shows really well side by side.

Likewise in games like Cyberpunk the RT reflections and shadows made a difference as did the RTGI, but we had DLSS on that so could get over 60fps with RT enabled.

If they patch up the game so FSR isn't broken, and the single threaded CPU limitation is fixed too, then I'll re-buy it.

Also, XBOX is broken too with missing reflections and poor performance. The game looks truly amazing but the lead platform was obviously PS5 (and the only one they bothered testing).

I feel like making a YouTube channel entirely dedicated to UE Stutters. Digital Foundry covering one game every couple of months isn't enough :D
I'm glad DF are fighting our corner on this because this has been going on for years and it's all just because developers won't give us the option to precompile shaders for our hardware.

Even if it took an hour I'd be happy as long I didn't see a single one of those stutters. Make it a manual option (perhaps with a basic and full setting) and let those without the patience deal with the stuttering if that's what they are worried about.

I can't imagine AMD is too impressed either - they sponsored this title and their (current) flagship GPU is unable to run it at a playable framerate with all the bells and whistles turned on.

I doubt AMD give a damn really, their revenue for 2022 is $23.5 billion. Which is up 43% compared to 2021. Have made that much money this year they probably couldnt give a hoot if 1 game title fails. Probably weighs on their minds about as much as Ronaldo not getting 16m when departing Utd weighs on his mind.

I expect they had the 7900 series in mind, but if we go by 4090 performance it will struggle.

It's not too bad now with the patch, still a bitter dissapointment, combat with the dodging against more than 1 enemy is frustrating at times, hope now dead space remake and RE 4 are better than this, shouldnt be too hard !!
