The Callisto Protocol

Absolutely stunning game and ranks amongst one of the greatest ever to me ... so many things done right . Exactly the experience I wanted from a survival horror game . The game , atmosphere, story , graphics and sound were unreal... for me that game couldn't of turned out any better, although I have completed it like 5 times still get the urge to play it again :D
Agreed!
Replayed it recently when I got my Asus OLED and wow what an experience!

Gonna reshade it and play it in bed, hopefully won't **** the bed though as I'm used to the alien now. But then again I could mod it and put the nastier alien in, but in afterthought I don't want a ****** bed.
Any recommendations? Been a while reshading anything, how does it work on deck?

Nice to see some positives in this thread although not game title specific

Back on topic though since the patch I only really get some stutter on what seems to be loading sections other than that it looks great and the sound quality is amazing im really enjoying it so far.

Dx11
FPS fixed @ 60
3840x2160
5800x
32gb
3080FE

What's the FPS with DX12 and RT enabled?

Ok so seeing all the reports of the patch sorting out the stuttering, I am actually tempted to get it again and give it a bash. Giving benefit of the doubt, if they do add a further patch in coming days like they said they would in the last tweet after the current patch, then the CPU optimisations should be sorted too.

I need horror scifi action in my gaming life and it's missing dammit.

What's wrong with that? All games should come with extra settings nobody can use for a couple gens in my opinion.
I don't have the latest and greatest, but the 12700KF and 3080 Ti FE have thus far been able to run every game that has been decently optimised (by the time I have got round to playing them lol) with everything enabled inc RT with no issues maintaining over 60fps at 3440x1440. Games like Doom Eternal get 150fps+ for example, that's with having DLSS turned off and in Ultra Nightmare everything and RT on. Can you imagine any other game with RT with id's level of optimisation in pure raster performance and getting 100+ fps?!

Time and time again people reference how the software needs to be ahead of hardware, which is fair enough, but that is a purely manufactured approach that should never been the case. id tech have proven this with Doom External's engine, so whenever I see people mention RT being heavy on the GPU and needing a couple of gens of advancement, I simply point to Doom Eternal and those 150fps figures I have been seeing on nearly 2 year old GPU hardware without having to touch DLSS or lower any setting

It's definetely not too bad, social media has ruined modern gaming, although there isnt much replayability, intro sequence was annoying you must spend half the game in the prison uniform, was hoping to get the suit sooner, will probably give it another go with new game plus in February and the future DLC planned, still hope RE 4 remake and dead space remake turn out good !!

What a shame. Only thing pulling me to this game is the graphics. The game itself looks like a slightly better version of this which was nothing special either:

So the patch also fixed FSR not working. With all ray tracing enabled and the Ultra Preset, the game is now smooth and playable with FSR Performance. In Quality/Balanced the framerate is a little lower, but Performance mode I find more usable for quick movements etc. Also note the frametime line on the higher FSR modes, Performance mode has the flattest frametime line in scenes like this.

Examples:

FSR Quality:

FSR Balanced:

FSR Performance:

No FSR, no Temporal AI:

The framerate range with just Temporal AI enabled is not much different to no upscale at all (the last one above), so I didn't bother screenshotting that.

Post-patch gameplay:

What res’ are you at mark 4k?

I’ve had to drop to 1440p fsr-performance to hold 50fps.

Not sure if it’s down to processor or the 10gb on 3080fe

3440x1440 - What VRAM is used at 4K same settings? You can see mine is under 6GB with FSR, or 6.7GB pure raster. I have RTSS set to only show app specific RAM/VRAM btw so that's all what just the game is using and not background apps etc.

RTSS? I thought that was FRAPS? I don’t have either…is it on guru3d?

Do you know what your total is?
