The Callisto Protocol

Must have missed the instruction on how to use the grabber glove and cannot figure it out?
Figured it out for all the use it is. Now to figure how tom get past 4 of the monsters because I find combat dire to say the least with of of course a totally useless hand gun added because ever game should have one, headshot and they still keep coming?

sorry completely missed your post, i also had to look at the tutorials on the menu, to see how it worked, was thinking how does this work because it just aims the gun, combat can be annoying at times, the game tries to be a lot of things and fails at many, cheap jump scares and those annoying enemies that stretch out and latch onto, and you have no chance to attack them, where items should be and there are enemies inside that take a bit off your health, whoever thought that was a good idea. then add in, lots of finding fuses, crawling through vents, shimmying past obstacles

I've just seen the EULA mentioned elsewhere and holy, how can they be serious with this stuff?

"Users exploiting bugs will be liable for extreme penalties [...] all in-game items and other data will be forfeited and removed"
"Gameplay that goes against the intentions of how our game is meant to be played [...] measures will be taken against the account"

It's a single player game that you released in a ****** state and charging £50 for..

Thats nothing, I remember when the EULA came out for the original release of Star Wars Galaxies and it had a clause in it that you had to give Sony your first born child. Now it was just a joke of course, to highlight how gamers agree to EULAs without bothering to read what they are agreeing to :)

That's hilarious. But yeah no one reads them lol.

Lol surely that's only if you create a Krafton account and link it so they have access to your account and thus game stuff. If it's on Steam etc what are they going to do? Nowt!

RTSS? I thought that was FRAPS? I don’t have either…is it on guru3d?

Do you know what your total is?
Rivatuner Statistic Server which is part of the MSI Afterburner extension modules for stats overlays and more:

By total do you mean total RAM and VRAM used including background apps etc? I have Firefox minimised in the background, so the total VRAM is an extra 1GB which Firefox allocates, so just add 1GB more VRAM on top of my earlier posted VRAM use for just the game.

As for RAM, 11.1GB is in use for background apps and the OS, so the total RAM use would be a bit over 18GB RAM used total inc the game.

I think the 16GB RAM recommendation for the game at Max/Ultra is a little low for the higher resolution and settings.32GB is what I'd say is optimum otherwise 16GB RAM means you will end up paging background app memory use to disk, which you do not want.

Well only played about an hour and had my 1st game crash. I have noticed textures, like the hair for example on NCP's flicker on and off.
I really do hope they sort the performance out on this game as I am actually enjoying it.

Curiously the Nvidia recommended optimum settings. Notice they don't want you to use FSR, yet all DLSS games the optimum is always to have DLSS on :p

Uncharted had that weird wall taxture LOD glitch I posted few weeks back, Callisto has Schrödinger's Toxic Waste:

So - in terms of combat I’ve taken to imagining it’s more like the story based games akin to Detroit - being human etc but without the obvious prompts (apart from the blue circle to shoot).

I have 10 hours on it now and actually, surprisingly I have been enjoying it. Parts are frustrating where I die and have to redo a bunch of times, or when you have a horde of bios and try to juggle between close combat vs long range or using the power glove - It's not obvious how much ammo you have left on your gun until it's pulled out too so timing is everything because the process of weapon switching, reloading etc takes time. I have taken to a method, power glove them into the sky and use that chance to reload and be ready for a few shots to the legs to slow them down, then go in with a flurry of whacks. If there's more than 2 to deal with, then just power glove as many into sharp things as possible and whack the rest with your stick lol.

I will say this, the jump scares haven't been as rampant as comments online had previously made out, and the vent crawling is only a thing in the first half of the game, the latter half seems to be different as you explore more outdoors and traverse a vertical level design.

I wish there was a dodge move so you could double tap to doge projectiles, also quick weapon switch would have been nice too because what they call quick, isn't that quick.

This sounds like a classic example of a decent enough game receiving truck loads of too much hype.

Anyone know how to install RTSS? It says it can't because another instance is already running but there's nothing in Task Manager and I have closed the likes of Afterburner.

Is it listed in add/remove programs? You also need at least version beta 3, that has the patch to correctly get CPU usage under Windows 11 22H2.

I’m glad it’s not all doom and gloom. Hopefully they fix the stuttering completely soon, and I will play this over the Christmas holidays.

I think it was a case of people getting their hopes up it was going to be the second coming of Christ, and getting disappointed. It sounds like fun can be had though.

I always notice little details like that though :p It's quite funny even if annoying :p

Yup I actually ended up using some tactical thought processes for some of the hordes, like scoping out where those spiked walls are, which one to pin to which wall, where is the best area to run to for cover before the rest reach me if I'm low on ammo etc. Playing it with that kind of thought process has made what would otherwise be "enter room, beat enemy to death, exit room".

I won't replay the main mission again when they patch it up, but will await the story DLC early next year and if they add more areas to explore, might check those out too.

The annoying stutters are fixed, but there still are some stutters here and there, nothing major, this is likely down to the single threaded CPU use which they are working on fixing they said.
