The Callisto Protocol

I refunded this just before my two hours was up. I'll buy it again at some point but only when it's heavily discounted - I didn't find it scary at all, a million jump scares does not a horror game make! Not a huge fan of the combat/dodge mechanic either.
Thanks for the input. That was my concern. Looks lush and all but the combat looks like melle , melle, doing the same thing over and over again.

Ive been playing this tonight and apart from the odd stutter, runs absolutely peachy and looks stunning.

Only played about 1h or so and I need a break, not sure my old ticker can take too much frights :)

Loving the photo mode

I think with the combat its either a love or hate thing, people were expecting like a dead space 4 and ended up dissapointed, its not 2 bad, but could have been better, possibly a bit rushed to beat dead space remakes release ?

So 13 hours for completion for me, sets the base for a number 2 or the story DLC expansion at the end it seems. No reason to replay the current game again but overall a decent experience post-patch 1. The combat still needs work but even Dead Space had its combat issues too.

EDIT*
DF have their take on this across all platforms, I agree especially with the PC mentions.

Sooo I was going back through to create some screenshots with and without RT for a quick review and realised a few things.

Apart from reflections of SOME things such as mirrors, and some light sources off the shiny floor etc, most other things, including other light sources off shiny floors, appear to be done in screen space as they look exactly the same with or without all RT enabled. Shadows are softer with RT shadows on, but it's not like non RT shadows were bad anyway. With that in mind, do I think the GPU budget needed (in the game's current state) is worthy of using RT at dramatically reduces framerates, even with FSR set to performance? No. If you showed me the game with no RT enabled but everything else on Ultra, I'd have automatically guessed RT was enabled purely because the screen space effects are done so well.

Comparisons...

I've only done this comparison in the ship, the framerates are lower after this stage as most will know, so the RT_On screens are more like 55-65 on average vs the 70s you see above at the start of the game.

I also found a hilarious bug, the objective tells you to return to the cockpit, so I did???

Another bug, if using FSR then the Photo mode does weird thing to Jacob:

Thta's only PSO caching being enabled. The Unreal documentation says that PSO caching is easy to do, just needs to be enabled for any project in the first place. How they forgot about these sorts of things is a mystery lol.

It feels like they just didn't test it on any PC at all properly, or launched the game and called it a day because "it works".

Because of stuff like this I don't buy into the whole excuse of the wrong game being sent to release by accident that Glen stated on twitter the other day.

Many developers make the same mistake which means very little proper testing is done on PC. This is a disgrace given the price of these games and the associated hardware!

You want to know the most hilarious thing about that though? They had guys from Epic helping them bespoke the engine with bits of Unreal 5 under the hood! You would have expected Epic to mention "hey by the way, you probably want to do XYZ to properly polish this off" - Or maybe they did and just didn't care to apply the time budget to do it.

He actually gave Elden Ring a good review, over an 8 from what I can remember
He only did that after A LOT of pressure from his viewers. If you watch his original opinion of Elden Ring, he gives it a 0/10 and gives up on it before he even leaves the "tutorial" area. This is his original verdict, where he refunds the game after 38mins because the game is an "absolute joke on PC". There is so much wrong with what he says during this and his entire attitude while playing the game that it really highlights just how poor a reviewer he is.

If you want it cheap, buy it from Epic store with Turkish VPN. It's around £30 with season pass. G2A is shady and likely to be bought with stolen card
Btw your link is only season pass, without the game

Can't stand him nowadays. He moans about games on purpose as that's what people expect him to do; I mean back in the day a rule of his was to complete games before he reviewed them so he could give a proper view on them, but he doesn't even do that anymore. I've no idea why his channel still exists.

He started well but ended up becoming a parody of himself. Took the whole bell thing much too far really.
