Can anyone recommend a good value car shampoo? Meguiars gold class wash seems quite expensive at £17 for less than 2L.

Shampoo doesn't have to be expensive, I use autoglym shampoo which lasts ages if you use as directed and less than a tenner.

Zymol Shampoo is great, smells lovely and lathers up really well, usually get it from Halfords.

At the moment i'm using Turtle Wax, bought a 5l tub of it for about £2 from Morrisons.

Zymol stuff is great, previously used Autoglym shampoo but it just isn't as sudsy or slick as the Zymol stuff. Can't go wrong for £6.99 :D

Well I just went crazy and spent £160 on some Megs stuff like a proper fanboi even though I've got no idea what I'm doing..

Gold Class Shampoo and Conditioner
Deep Cyrstal Polish Step 2
NXT Generation Teck Wax Paste
Clay bar
and then some lambswool mitts, applicator pads and towels.

I suppose that's everything?

That Capri is going to blow you out of the water :)

And LOL at the other entrants. A crap Ford Focus, a Chevy Cobalt and a Ford Ka with generic pictures which aren't of the actual car.

At least you'll get runner up :)

How does one go about cleaning the underside of the car without going to a car wash?
I wouldn't mind removing all the salt and crap from underneath at some point, but if I'm going to all the trouble of clay, polish, wax, etc then a carwash would just be epic fail..

Found a great little tip!

My seatbelt retracting was a bit slow and someone mentioned cleaning the last 3 feet of the seatbelt (pull it out) with some UV protectorant to clean and lube it. (once cleaned pull it out and in a few times to lube the mechanism)

Saw that Poorboys Natural Look Dressing (which I know a lot of you guys use) is a UV protectorant so used that, worked a charm!

Seatbelt is now clean, retracts nice and quickly and smells like bubble gum :D

This week I will give my car a clean!

It's absolutely disgusting, I know it's only going to get dirty again but it needs a fresh coat of wax and a good polish. It's taken a lot of abuse lately

Anyone else going to be giving their car a Christmas clean? :D

Already done mine, yeh it gets dirty again but that dirt comes off a lot easier after a fresh coat of wax.

Gave it a once-over with the megs shampoo yesterday, but it's still filthy.
And the terry towels I bought were useless as it's got no wax on it :(

When I come back in the new year it's going to get a claying, and then wax, polish, etc..

One thing I'm concerned about with hand-washing is all the salt and crap on the undercarriage. Without going to a car wash (and thereby negating all the good things done washing it without swirling), how do you remove all the crap underneath?

Did the scirocco yesterday then parked it up in the garage for the couple of months, will use the old golf over winter.
