If you've only got polish and wax, what should do after subsequent washes?
(after the initial wash > clay > polish > wax)

Got bored this evening and thought satisfy my seeming newfound love for shiny engine bays

Found the engine amidst all the plastic

Ignore the road kill on the bumper/number plate

Can't help but keep looking at the flat number plate, 3M that mother up on the curved bumper man!

So.. I couldn't resist having a go with the snowfoam lance that arrived today. It didn't work particularly well on my car, but I don't think had it mixed thick enough, it ran off the car pretty quickly.

I had another go on me mams car, using a much thicker mix which really splattered on, used loads of the foam goo though! That slid off and was much better after a rinse, although it was much cleaner to start with.

I went with the PH neutral snow foam but I guess stronger stuff is needed for thick dirt? (or just a thicker mix). I'm planning on doing the big wash this friday or saturday:-

Snowfoam
Hand wash with Autoglym shampoo (and tar remover on a few bits)
Clay
Hand polish with Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine (may take a looong time)
Autoglym Sealant over the top
Autoglym Bumper Care over the plastic bits and wheels will be done too!

I bought a Clay Magic kit with some other bits, and cleanyoucar.co.uk also sent me this http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/detailing-clay/sonus-ultra-fine-detailing-clay-pkg/2/prod_37.html pricy clay bar (not sure if accident :p). So would the Sonus be better than the Clay Magic? :)

Just bung one of those magnetic ones on the back if you do, no point getting one on your plate just for that.

Keep it simple :)

Try some Poorboys Diamond White. It should work on all light coloured cars. Does my silver car a treat.

I do it slightly different to that.

Wash
Clay
Wash
Dry
Tar Remover if needed. The Clay usually gets rid of it.
Polish
Sealant
Wax
In between that I just wash then go over with some Dodo Juice Red Mist.
errrrrr I do

wash
wax

I just realised the importance of a clay bar today.
First time washing my MX5 (usually have a company clean it that comes to your door) however, after spending the guts of £90 on AutoGlym products and all types of washing mits/towels/polish pad I now realise I should've bought a clay bar :( Think i'll do it again next week but order a snow foam lance too!

quick edit: Would it be safe enough to use an orbital polisher (considering I have no prior experience using one)?

Could someone help me with some new pads for my rotary polisher.

I have the silverline polisher with the foam pads that fall to bits when you use then so im looking for some better ones, now i beleive its a m14 thread and my polisher came with a 7" velcro backed pad and i think thats too big, so what size/make pads should i get?

Thanks

Products used:
Snowfoam
2 bucket method
AG SRP
AG Aqua Wax
Meg's tyre dressing
Alloys waxed and sealed

Goddamn that looks nice ^^

I've always wondered - do you have to wax after using SRP? I ask because on the bottle it says it contains protective sealants etc and i get mad water beading after using it alone.
