just got some Magifoam (30min dwell time snow foam!) and some Very Cherry (wheel cleaner) to try out

will post up thoughts as of when i get chance to wash the car

Gave the car a 'proper' wash last week and waxed it. While the car looks great the waxing has revealed a number of minor chips all around the front and rear bumpers. Would using colour magic on it after using Zymol wax just a week ago be safe? I don't want to harm the the paintwork by over doing it with products.

Maccy very kindly, for the second time lent me his hands for pretty much the whole day today!

Snowfoam
Wash with Megs Gold Class
Dry
Clay with Sonus clay & megs detailing spray
Rinse
Dry
Machine Polish (first time, good results achieved but room for improvement)
EGP
HD Wax x 2
Vynil & Rubber care
Glass polish
Megs Endurance Tyre Gel
Autosol, for the 'twins'.

My swirl bus:

Pretty sure one of the previous owners had the front end resprayed as it chips like icing on a cake. Had swirled quite badly too despite washing with the TBM and EGP & HD Wax x 2 last August/September.

I need to do a bit more reading about how to remover more stubborn swirls and scratches. I was by no means disappointed.

Wasn't expecting this much to come off since last time!

It had maintained most of the mirror finish I achieved last time but was suffering from some swirling quite badly.

Masked up ready to go:

If only we didn't need plates!

Any bits of wax or smudges or other **** can stay put until the next wash as I'm sick of looking at it for today!

Once again thanks to Maccy as it'd have been a two day job without him.

Edit: I will try and get some comparison shots for the correction in day light tomorrow.

Some tonight while it's dark/light enough

One I couldn't shift which is actually tiny, macro working well for once!

I might give the bonnet another whizz later on in the summer if I can be bothered.

Bit dusty from the post wash hoon :D

Black Gold does look really good when it's not being a swirl bus.

Joshy go read the bottle and tell us what the instructions say about wet or dry :p

I'm... not sure.

It doesn't really tell you that you can use it wet or dry, it just seems to go on and on about it 'not necessary to completely dry the vehicle' but it doesn't go as far as to say 'Wet use only'

Wheres the cheapest place to get car cleaning products from, I need some polishing cloths etc ...

Cheers

Bit stuck. My car is labelled as silver but it isn't. It's that murky blueish Renault silver and it's doing my head in because I can't seem to get a decent shine or reflection out of it.

I'm on a budget because I'm going on holiday soon but any product recommendations for this type of colour? Whether it be polish, wax, shampoo or so forth? Preferably budget product recommendations!

Here's the colour:

So, like I said, any tips before I go back to my old ways and stick with polish?

It isn't really a case of either/or. You should really wax on top of any polished paint.

I'm pretty stuck in my ways and don't do mad with polishing and waxing (no point on a silver car :p ) so I stick with this if I'm giving the full treatment:

Wash
Dry
AG Tar Remover to... er... remove the tar
Clay (only if the paint isn't smooth already)
AG SRP
Harly Wax

Then after each wash I give it a quick spray of Wax It Wet which A) helps me dry it without water marks and B) gives the wax a little boost.

The proper car cleaners on here are probably shaking their heads in disapproval at everything I've mentioned above :p

Silver cars are depressing for a good shine, i was hoping dark grey was going to be better but its not really, plus im very lazy which i realise could be holding me back :)

Try some Poorboys Diamond White. It should work on all light coloured cars. Does my silver car a treat.

I do it slightly different to that.

Wash
Clay
Wash
Dry
Tar Remover if needed. The Clay usually gets rid of it.
Polish
Sealant
Wax

In between that I just wash then go over with some Dodo Juice Red Mist.

When using a DA does it matter if you run over the headlights/tail lights slightly or should you completely mask them off.

I need some good MF towels for removing polish, can anyone recommend?
