Advice please.

New car arrives on Thursday and it has been finished with Diamondbrite.

What products should I be using to keep it clean and shiny?

Thanks from a noob.

Car is well overdue a clean, need to give her a good one and protect the paint through winter (also need to grow some balls and brave the cold). Can someone provide me with a list of "essentials"....

At the moment I have a bucket and mit - need a new mit though!

Cancel the diamond stuff quickly. Will save you needing to remove it before using proper products on it.

It's only purpose is to make money for the dealer.

Well it was thrown in for free but I gues nothing is ever free? Might see how much the car is without it but then again, it's not my money and is the company's money.

So should I just let them do it or more bother than it's worth in the long run?

Assuming you use a "fan" of water, not the concentrated jet, from a pressure washer, is it safe to wash your car with one? I've heard it can damage the paint, but not sure of the veracity of this claim.

Was thinking of just using it to get the car wet at first and rinse of suds at the end.

Yes you will be fine using the fan version.

ASsuming its not a 13hp Honda pressure washer with a CAT pump running at 6 million bar!

fresh wax will not allow much dirt to stick to it, so it will be easier to wash off.

Problem I find at this time of year is that having a well waxed car causes dirty water to bead and then when it dries you are left with dirty splodges all over the car.

TBH I'm thinking of getting a better snow foam rather than the generic "free with a foam lance" stuff that I currently have and just blast it with that once a week to get it 80% clean.

I think my car was the dirtiest its ever been this week. Combination of wet/muddy/salty roads mainly.

I don't often put a lot of effort into "winter" washes as the car just gets filthy a mile down the road anyway. Best method i've stumbled across so far is to wash, rinse and then dry using Astonish Spray 'n' Shine as a drying aid.

Still gives a lovely shine and looks like i've spent way more than 3/4hr on it :D

Damn RussZS, that looks good! Like Begbie I saw it over on CS.net.

I keep getting tempted to have my BG 182 done, as from photos on CS.net they look great when done properly .

Got up at 12PM, had some breakfast and got to work, finished at 4PM :p

Down here the crap weather starts in Jan so this is no problem, other than being cold but that won't stop me :p

This coat will. last me until summer at least depending on the weather in Q1 next year.
