Which snow foam would be best for not lifting the wax off my car? Been looking to purchase 25L of the stuff but im unsure what to go with. The turtle wax stuff i used last time has taken off the wax :(

Anyone know of some good stuff? Only want as a pre wash and not for getting the car spotless in one sitting.

I'd go with the Autobrite Magifoam, the best out of all the ones i've tried and is wax friendly.

I don't suppose anyone has the 'Autoglym Surface Detailing Kit'?

Just brought an unused one for cheap but the box is pretty knackered, all the instructions have been removed with the use of brown packing tape binding products together =/

I've read a few guides, just wanted to see what the box actually recommends. If anyone has a photo handy, i'd be immensely grateful :)

Right, these odour bomb thingies. Some folk on other car related forums and some of the instructions for use on various suppliers websites are saying you activate it inside the car, and have the air con switched on and the "recirculate" button activated. Then leave it to fully empty the canister and don't open the doors for approx 2 hours.

So let me get this straight - You leave the car with its engine running and the aircon switched on for 2 hours whilst all this magic occurs?.

I used a smoke machine once, filled with nice smelling stuff. I'd imagine it's similar stuff, 10 minutes was all that was needed.

My god did the car smell bloody fantastic for months!

This time of year I always find myself buying new bits and bobs to get the car looking good again after the frustration of winter, and this year is no exception...

.. roll on sun shine!

Yeah I thought the same yesterday, nice day I'll wash the car, very shiny and sparkly it was too.
Less than 6 hours later it was totally filthy again.
/frustration

Yup, too right!

This year I've gave it a really good go at the start of winter and I've really only been jet washing and topping up wax since, I have to resist the temptation to do anything else because its just wasted effort.

300 miles a week on salty motorways makes a right mess!

On the plus side it means that when spring arrives I'm ready to go mad on it. Whole street things I'm crazy mind you.

Yep I gave mine the full job last weekend wash, clay, polish, glaze, sealant, wax. A few of the neighbours asked me if I was ok!

Now that the weather is improving I will start to be hand washing now. Have been snow foaming and cleaning wheels only during the winter as the salt has ***** me off so much it's not been worth a full clean.

So I'm off to buy 2 new buckets today, and have sourced those. What I'm after now is a good wash mitt. I have previously used microfibre, but have read over at detailing world that lambswool/sheepskin is the way to go.

So apart from Halfords (robbing *****) where else can I source one. Hopefully looking to go today when I go pick up my buckets.

Thanks

I cant clean my car at home and I use it everyday so it gets filthy, so over witner I resigned myself to simply taking the car to the local BP jetwash every few weeks. The cheapest program is £1.75 which is a high pressure shampoo spray followed by pressure rinse. Will never get the car full clean but keeps the worst of the muck off.

Can anyone recommend a good interior cleaner for plastics? Im using a foam stuff I found, but heard some good things about Autoglym. Just look for something I can spray onto a cloth then wipe over the whole cockpit (I hate cleaning interiors ).

'poor boys natural look' for me is the business

I'm using one of these at the moment.

Best one I have found so far. I had one of those ones with the microfibre strands before and found that it didn't lift the dirt as well as this.

Yes, had seen that example before, out of stock at the moment. May wait til it's back in.

I had the same problem you had with the microfibre, it never really produces much soapy suds either...

this is what surprised me with the megs one, it does work up the soap a lot and really encourages dirt to shift.

word of advice though, after use, hand wash it and don't chuck it in the washing machine. my last one met an untimely demise that way :p

I think it is only a few quid more in halfords so if you needed one today then it wouldn't be a bad call.
I only order on-line to get discount from cleanyourcar's website though

Thanks for that tip. I do normally bung all the cloths/mitts/towels in the washing machine when I have finished so will hand wash the mitt!!

I'm heading up that way, so will see how much Halfrauds are charging, don't mind waiting for delivery time from online though.

Tackled my filthy exhausts today, sorry I don't have any before pictures, but let's just say they were black!
