And my clean triple waxed car :p

Looking for some advice here. I thought I'd actually have an attempt at this detailed car cleaning malarky. Normally I do this:

1. Pressure Wash all the grime/dirt off the car/
2. Pour car shampoo in a bucket, use with sponge on to the car. Triple wax wash/wax type.
3. Clean the wheels with a brush using the same shampoo.
4. Pressure wash it off.
5. Dry

Done.

I've never 'clayed' or done any other stuff. I was wanting to know which products which are reasonably priced I could use?

Does snow foaming make a big difference or am I better to use the method I use now but with better products?

Looking for some shampoo/wax/polish/tyre sealant?

Please advice, thanks.

To do it properly, I:-

Wet the car/hose - to remove/loosen dirt
Car shampoo, 2 buckets with micro fibre mitt or wool mitt to wash.
Rinse with hose
Clay car with lubricant (if you ever drop the clay bar, bin it)
Hose it off
Towel dry
Polish
Wax

Done.

You can clean the wheels too if you want

Hose.
Wheels cleaner with brush, scrub the tyres too while you are at it.
Apply sealant and tyre dressing.

As for products, this is mine, no doubt there are better stuff out there but meh, this is my first batch, will try others when it run out.

They actually use hand mits, not sponges. Plus the car is already covered in swirl marks, needs going over with a rotary/DA at some point.

1 bucket or 2 sir ;)

Anyhow, hope you get before and after pictures before going at it with a rotary, something i've yet to do with my Skoda

Can anyone recommend a good alternative to Meguiars APC? At £20 a bottle its pretty steep, also what does a valeting brush do that a fine paint brush cant?

You'll be surprised to hear that they actually use 2! They're not your average turn up and expect a quick turnaround :)

When I get round to the detail then yeh I'll document it, but it won't be for a while.

You don't wash the car again after claying it with the lubricant?
A hosing down is surely not enough... not in my experience anyway...

@Vita, this is what I usually do but each to their own;

Car Interior first! (So when you shake your mf towel and take your mats out it doesnt all go over the car)
Rinse car
Snow Foam entire car
Pressure Wash off.
Clean wheels with brush and my secret wheel cleaner ;)
Wash car (2buckets, wool mitt) (I rinse each section as I go along)
Clay (+ lube)**
Wash again
Dry with V.Large MF Towel.
Polish
Wax / Paint Sealant
AG Glass Polish side mirrors.
Apply RainX to Side windows and windscreens.

Check Oil, Tyre Pressures and stock up on a packet of Lemon Sherbets :D

** - you shouldnt have to clay the car every time you wash the car, if you only wash it twice a year then clay it each time.

We should all have a meet and clean each other's cars :D ;)

The lubricant can be soapy water so I thought why do I need to introduce more when I can rinse it with clean water? Especially after I've just lifted all the grimes off it with a clay bar.

A little help please with some questions.

im thinking of buying a polisher, is the silverline storm one any good? Can i polish and wax with this? Do i use normal polish like SRP or is there something better for electric polishers? Same question for wax?

thanks

Get a DA, as its easier to work with and more forgiving than a rotary polisher.
Machine polishing is better than by hand. but I wax by hand than machine.
