How do you clean your engine?

I've seen videos, cover up alternator, battery and then spray on chemical and then hose down! I'd be pooing myself I'd think...

What's 2BM?

Question regarding washing wheels and wheel sealant.

The idea of it is to wash your wheels and then apply it so it protects it from the elements, brake dust etc. Therefore, shouldn't one need to take off the wheels to clean the inside and out otherwise although you might clean the outside of the wheels, the inside is still covered in dirt.

But how many people take off their wheels every time they wash their car?

I did it when I was first into detailing and really enthusiastic like yourself atm.

Nowadays I don't even get as far as putting a sealant on the wheels.

However the idea is, every 6 months, wheels come off, sealant on and then you don't need to take the wheels off again for another 6 months as the brake dust should come off easily with the pressure washer due to the sealant being there..

Given the fact only your wheel arch liners and brake discs see the inside of your wheels, I wouldn't bother unless the inside of the wheel is really rotten with dirt.

Not many lol, But once in a while could be a good idea if you really want to. Never taken mine off to actually clean, Normally give them a clean if I've got them off for something else though.

Exactly my thoughts, i am thinking the same...i am happy to wash the car and clean it but getting the jack out, taking wheels off might be a step too far, my enthusiasm for car cleaning stops here lol

Will get some Iron X and spray it on and then apply sealant on the outside will do :)

Haha fair play. I'm getting all 4 wheels re-furbed this month probably. And will be taking along my own wheel sealant to apply all over the wheel prior to them being put back on.

From then on, I will take the wheels off every 6 months for a full clean - September/October before the winter, then March/April when it's a little warmer to work on!!

I've got a wheel brush that i clean the insides of the wheels with each time i was the car, cost me about £4 from a car show and its great. Spokes are wide enough apart to be able to see the inner dish of the wheel but too narrow to get your hand in between :D
