What dilution ratio do you people use for Bilberry? I've had it for ages and while it's great, it seems to dry out very quickly on my wheels before I get chance to scrub it off, unlike the YouTube videos where it stays wet for up to 5 minutes?

Whats the best product for plastic and rubber trims? I want to keep the roof seals and trim on the Z4 in good condition and thought about some kind of silicon based product. Any suggestions?

Yeah the Kent MF towel I have "mults" (sp?) but other than that does a bang up job of drying the car. I go over it at the end of a wash with a mf cloth a quick detailer anyways and wipe the remaining fluff off then.

Been looking around at jet washers and debating whether to get the nilfisk or karcher (~£70 ones) and was looking on argos to find:

Now I've always considered Black and Decker to be a reputable brand and specs don't seem terrible. But at £45 I can't help but think something is up. Personally I blame OcUK as I never used to be this cynical :p Is it merely that it has few accessories meaning it is so cheap? I'll probably buy the Nilfisk as I'd like the accessories and it's only £54.99 on argos but figured it might be worth mentioning.

Iron X purchased. Along with some empty spray bottles so I can organise stuff better.

at the moment wheel cleaner is in some random old Auto Glym wax spray bottle, Detailer is in a tyre gel spray bottle etc etc - all very confusing haha :p

Am I correct in saying that the "foam applicator" that comes with that would negate the need to purchase a snow foam jobby separately? Pretty silly question but you never know... does foam imply snow foam?

I would still buy a snow foam kit for it, the ones what come with that don't foam up very well!

I have found that the supplied one is ok, but could be a lot better, definitely buy a snow foam kit, apparently they are very good, it's on my list to buy one.

gummi pflege for the rubbers. Infact i think it is made especially for BMW. I have pillar less doors and it works wonders on 18 year old rubber. No more wind noise :). For plastics you want Valet Pro Trim Glitz. Last a good few months. Also great on harder rubbers and as a tyre dressing.

These kent drying towels gets good reviews from most places. Think B&Q have a 3for2 offer at the moment. :)

Is hand polishing pointless?

I bought myself some G3Techniq #3(i think) and set about trying it on the boot as it's covered in swirls and light scratches.

Pour a pound sized blob on my applicator, rubbed it for a good 5 minutes round, up, down, left, right, diagonal, you name it, then let it dry a second and rubbed it off lightly...

No bloody difference, swirls are still there, scratches are still there, what do?

LOL - it also depends on your car, some 'prestige' have a scratch resistant clear, this stuff is tough - still scratches, but harder to polish up
A machine is HUGELY better.
I remember YONKS ago had to polish up a jag roof that I painted the day before, the car was going out at mid day, this was a long time ago when air polishers where the general item used in bodyshops. Unfortunately this morning the compressor was deciding to have the morning off!! so it had to be done by hand - took every minute till the guy arrived for it......... damn compressor burst back into life about 5 mins after AAARRGHHHH :D

Urgently needed some shampoo today as I think my Dad's disposed of half a bottle of Dodo Juice Born to be Mild

Nipped into Halfords and bought some Mer High Shine Shampoo.

It's not bad actually! Does leave a decent shine but otherwise it's just another shampoo :p

Gave the Gtechniq - C4 Permanent Trim Restorer stuff a try today, seems to work very well although its expensive. Lets see how long it lasts. Anyone else tried it?

Kleen Freaks is very good stuff.
All their bits I've used are very good.
Their car shampoo is the best brilliant, doesn't take off wax - far and away the best I've used :)

I tried cleaning a car once. I gave it a quick once over (hose no pressure washer) to get rid of loose stuff.

Then I used a 3 in 1 mix with waxing stuff with a clean sponge. Washed all over, rinse, and applied again before the final wash.

Didn't make any sodding difference.

Was I doing something wrong? The paint just doesn't seem to be vibrant at all. Quite dull. :/

I hope the bugs aren't out tomorrow. Just finished cleaning once again and have roughly 200 mile round trip tomorrow. Don't know why I bother. :o
