After last night, I think the MR2 could do with a clean....

I've just bought a car and have absolutely nothing to clean it with. Can anyone here recommend beginner type stuff for me to use? And are there any good pressure washers in the £50 range?

Nilfisks tend to be popular, I think there's currently one on sale on Amazon.

Best method in winter, and even summer...

Separate the clay bar into two pieces and place them in a pan of boiling water.

Use one on the car until it starts to go hard and difficult to mould, then switch to the other.

Thanks.

Bit of advice.

Once my car is washed, clayed, polished and waxed what would the process be to clean once a week? I only do 50 miles a week probably. Its also against the law to wash your car in your drive way so its a case of going to a wash it yourself car wash.

I have Dodo juice btbm would it just be:

1, Jet wash rinse.
2, 2 bucket wash.
3, Rinse and dry somehow?

Didnt realise this was a decent product. Is rinse and shine better than the rinse and wax?

I really like it, it's easy to use and leaves a nice finish, I followed it with a coating of CarPro Reload so the next time it's even easier to wash.

Checkout the stickies at the top of this page on how to use it http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=177

Should have added I've only used the standard version not the one with wax.

Can anyone recommend a good way to get rid of the white paste tyre fitters use when putting tyres on? Went at it with a valet brush, Bilberry + Jet Wash today which shifted most of it but it's not all gone :(

Just ordered the following from CYC to go with my new Christmas present (Karcher K4)

* Huge fluffy towel
* CYC Snow Foam lance (with Karcher fitting)
* PH Neutral Snow foam

Can anyone with Snow foam experience advise on how best to make up the ratio?

Thanks

I had my alloys done the other day and found that a strong APC mix (Autosmart G101 8:1) will remove it. I had to do it twice but eventually it went. If that doesn't work, keep going at it with the Bilberry, as it will eventually shift.

I have always put about an inch or so of snow foam in the bottle and then filled the rest with warm water. Give it a shake and you are good to go. If it doesn't cling to the car as much as you would like, add a little bit more to the bottle. When you have found a ratio that you like, put a mark on the bottle of were to fill to with the snow foam. If you want to be even more technical, if the snow lance's bottle is 1 litre, use around 50ml of the snow foam and the rest with warm water. That is about 20:1 ratio.

Here is a good link for working out dilution ratios if they are mentioned on the bottle :)

Going to attack my car and clean it sometime this week got a pressure washer but nothing else right now except some autoglym fastglass and interior shampoo. Recommend any good wax anyone? And shampoo. And im not using a sponge no more so any recommended cloths one for body and one for wheels if so?

Not got a snowfoam lance and none will fit my washer i don't believe else all id be all over it.

I would either use Collinite 476s which is a wax or FinishKare 1000P which is a sealant. Both will offer great protection (6+ months) and pick which one you want! If you don't want that much protection (!) and just a nice looking finish that will last a few days to weeks, then something like Chemical Guys - Butter Wet Wax ( a bit expensive) will give the car an amazing shine.

For the shampoo, do you want something that will leave a gloss look (shiny!) or something just to clean the car? If it is a gloss look you are after, Chemical Guys - Citrus Wash & Gloss or Dodo Juice Sour Power Shampoo are both great shampoo's. If you just want to clean the car, then something like Dodo Juice - Born to be Mild or Chemical Guys - Maxi Suds II are equally as good.

For the body, I prefer to use a lambswool or sheepskin wash mitt, something like the Eurow - Sheepskin Wash Mitt. For the wheels which can take a little more to remove brake dust, something like the Ultra Plush Micro-Noodle Wash Mitt is good, as the little noodles can get into the nooks of the wheel spokes. For drying, I use the Kent Extra Large Microfibre Drying Towel, it's massive and sucks up loads of water.

You can get a good wash mitt from Halfords! I would personally get this or if that is a bit too much still, this. I use it for my car sometimes if the other mitt is in the wash.

I would not clean my car without drying it after. If you don't dry it, it will leave water spots on the paint and glass, and I HATE those :P One of those towels is enough for my entire car and B&Q stocked them, but I have't been able to find them in any store so have resulted in getting them on the rainforest as they are about £3 each.

Top notch thanks guys :) Don't suppose anyones got any good advice for a small chip on my door? I don't want to spend much but how can i get good results with a touchup pen (if its even possible) or atleast fill it in so its not as visible ?

Youtube (and forums) seems to suggest touch up fill in pen by dealer make a raised blob, 3000 sand by hand, polish like mad afterwards.. Anyone tried this and had any results?

I have no rotary tools etc so i need a hand method really
